The game of your dreams just dropped, DUCK SEASON, a hunter with ridiculous graphics. Luckily, it's summer vacation and Mom just surprised you with a one day rental of it! Unfortunately, as you binge play it becomes apparent that all is not right with Duck Season...

This game was so peak even after 2017 in 2026 this game was probably and still the best vr horror game or the best un popular horror game. to the endings and the build up to the jump scare was pure peak. the amount of detail this game had was amazing. over all after nine to eight years this game has been out this is better than current vr horror games.
(Sorry for bad english) Honestly this game I consider to be one of the first good vr games. This game has a perfect reloading system unlike rec room and others. If you want to reload you can, if you want to shoot all shots you can. Also the secrets are perfect as the kid wizard book is such a good idea to allow people to see the games full library of stuff (that part helped me with the achievements too.) The canon ending made me die inside too, its way to perfect. Overall the game I consider to be an old founding father of gaming and the ending was perfect 10/10.

Duck Season is a virtual reality psychological horror game developed and published by Stress Level Zero that transforms a familiar childhood pastime into an unsettling journey filled with mystery and suspense. Set during the summer of 1988, the story begins with a simple premise: a young boy receives a rental copy of a popular duck hunting game for his home console. At first, everything feels comfortably nostalgic, capturing the excitement of classic gaming during the late 1980s. However, as the days pass, the cheerful atmosphere slowly unravels, revealing a far darker reality lurking beneath the surface. Instead of relying on constant scares, the game carefully builds tension through its storytelling, encouraging players to question every strange event and every unexpected change within their surroundings. The core gameplay revolves around alternating between the retro hunting game and exploring the family's home. The duck hunting sections intentionally recreate the look and feel of classic light-gun arcade experiences, making each session feel authentic to the era that inspired it. Outside the game cartridge, players are free to investigate the house, interact with objects, uncover hidden clues, and observe subtle environmental changes that gradually reshape the narrative. Every discovery feels meaningful, rewarding curiosity with additional story details, hidden collectibles, secret VHS tapes, and multiple branching outcomes. With seven different endings available, the experience offers strong replay value, motivating players to revisit earlier moments and make different choices to uncover the complete story. The additional mini-games and hidden secrets scattered throughout the world further reinforce the feeling that there is always another mystery waiting to be solved. One of Duck Season's greatest achievements is the way it uses virtual reality to create immersion without depending entirely on cheap jump scares. Simply standing inside the family's home, picking up everyday objects, or noticing small changes in familiar rooms becomes increasingly unsettling as the story progresses. The game understands that anticipation can be more frightening than immediate danger, allowing suspense to grow naturally through silence, environmental storytelling, and subtle visual details. The horror works because it distorts ordinary childhood memories, turning what initially feels comforting into something deeply unsettling. This psychological approach gives the experience a lasting impact that continues even after the credits roll. Visually, the contrast between the intentionally primitive graphics of the fictional duck hunting game and the more realistic home environment creates a memorable artistic balance. The retro presentation successfully recreates the limitations of classic gaming hardware while the surrounding VR world delivers convincing detail that strengthens immersion. Audio design is equally effective, using ambient sounds, eerie quiet moments, and carefully timed musical cues to maintain an atmosphere of constant uncertainty. Voice performances and environmental effects help sell the illusion that the house is alive with hidden stories waiting to be uncovered. Rather than relying on excessive violence, the game focuses on mood and psychological discomfort, with only a handful of scenes featuring brief blood depending on the choices players make. Although Duck Season delivers an engaging and memorable experience, it does have a few limitations. Its deliberate pacing may feel slow for players expecting nonstop horror or action from the beginning. Much of the narrative is intentionally fragmented, meaning a single playthrough often leaves important questions unanswered. Fully understanding the story requires multiple runs, careful observation, and a willingness to search for hidden content, which may not appeal to everyone. In addition, because the game was designed specifically for VR, its accessibility is naturally limited compared to traditional titles. Its relatively short campaign also means much of its longevity comes from replaying the game to unlock every ending and uncover every secret rather than from an extended storyline. Despite these minor drawbacks, Duck Season remains one of the most distinctive narrative-driven horror experiences available in virtual reality. Stress Level Zero successfully blends childhood nostalgia, psychological horror, environmental storytelling, and interactive exploration into an experience that feels both unique and memorable. Its clever use of retro gaming culture, multiple endings, hidden mysteries, and immersive VR mechanics creates an adventure that rewards patient players who enjoy piecing together fragmented stories and discovering hidden details. While it may not satisfy those looking for constant action, it excels as a suspenseful horror experience that values atmosphere and imagination above spectacle, making it an easy recommendation for fans of narrative-focused VR horror. Rating: 8/10
This game is an actual masterpiece, there is so much effort and detail put into the things you can interact with, the lore is amazing, and the soundtrack is awesome as well. Last time i checked i think this game is also technically apart of boneworks/bonelab lore as well but i'm not entirely sure. I love how even 8 years later, this game holds up brilliantly with the horror aspect it has. Overall, 11/10 game, shout out to coryxkenshin for introducing me to this peak game.
A few things you should know before buying this: -This game does not have Bone Works/Lab level physics and you can only interact with a few objects (like tapes and the light gun ectr). -Even though the physics are limited, it’s still a great game and is a very cool prequel to Boneworks. -The shotgun mechanics are a bit janky and take some getting used to. Even though this game has a couple of flaws, I still HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS GAME! For £16 this gets you so much gameplay and the cinematic are awesome. If you’re a Bone Works/Lab fan, this is a game you can’t miss. It’s set in that same universe as Boneworks/Bonelab and is a prequel to Boneworks while also having a very original concept. SLZ really sets the stakes and creepiness of consciousness in video games but also makes you feel vulnerable to it. It’s a brilliant and must play game, especially if you’re a Bone Works/Lab fan.

I saw a giant dog try to murder my mother after my dad left and then stalk me from outside of my house with a camera! 10/10 would recommend. 👍
