Hard to put a finger on what makes DCK so great. I think it's hard for the style to come across in the screenshots/vids... You've just gotta play it! :P It's like a tongue in cheek punk rpg, where instead of battles there's quick arcade races. There's a tonne of stuff in there, so you'll be collecting wood and building sick ramps to jump off one moment, answering emails or making corporate logos the next (which is weirdly huge fun), then petitioning the council to paint all sidewalks green before grabbing an activated egg and meeting friends at the arcade to taze some dudes. All through it there's this slap-dash style to the characters you meet, proc-gen one-liners that will have you barking out a laugh unexpectedly. Surprises at every corner. Been playing it on steamdeck and it runs like a dream on that too!
An indie game in the truest sense. It doesn't follow genre conventions or formulas, it does what it wants. In the vaguest sense this is a racing game, but contains elements from all corners of the gaming world that combine into something that you haven't experienced before. There is more depth than meets the eye, and there's enough freedom in the game to make it easy to play how you want and at your own pace. Surprisingly coherent game world, banger tunes, and the racing gameplay is simple to understand but complex enough to keep it interesting throughout. Highly recommended for indie game enthusiasts, especially those looking for a true original.
you can find an iphone on the street, sell it, and use the money to get FFS from a guy in the sewer. goty
sardonic and absurd life sim with dryft racing go to work, take out the trash, liase with your coworkers, buy a soda, dryft race a teenager, buy useful trash off a dumpster goblin, put off your debts the graphics and writing are a bonkers feast the music is groovy the racing is simple but fun to learn bigger than it seems, great game
This game has charm that screenshots and trailers just can't capture. The devs created this really great world, with insanely good dialogue, art, and music that all come together perfectly. They've even wrote hundreds (i think lol) of random dialogue for NPCs just wandering around to say, sometimes they're just funny, and sometimes, they're philosophical and make you rethink life, and they're all worth to be read. Gameplay's solid – the racing's fun, and the special challenges and new unlocked areas create a great pacing of new experiences throughout your experience, also, the money system is great fun for a life rpg autistic nerd like me. Definitely check it out.
There is nothing else out there like this, this game ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ rules in every way. if you aren't dryfting u arent living
Great game with instantly recognizable racing mechanics and an art style and atmosphere that is all its own. Don't be fooled by the title, though, because Dryft is Life, literally. This is just as much a life simulator as anything else. It reminds me a lot of Stick RPG in the best ways. There's a lot of content here and the city is large and fleshed out, with there being a lot to find hidden around the corners and in the alleyways. Give it a chance, you won't be disappointed.
Just oozing with style AND substance. I've been surprised by how much there is to explore and laugh at. It's a damn good time.
