Unfortunately, the gameplay has lost what made it so great in the first few alphas. I don't understand how the 2018 alpha version can have less content than the 2015 one, less polished and more buggy. Even the tracks are strangely way more boring than before. Right now, I don't believe in this project anymore. That's why I asked for a refund. I'll be glad to purchase the final product if the dev(s) manage to prove they're able to do something with it. I just don't see it happening.
Honestly grotesque how the "dev" still parades the corpse of this game around as if there's still a fat chance in hell this'll turn into anything but a tech demo that somehow plays significantly worse than the damn kickstarter build

With the new version, you can control the game in Local, Arcade, and Multiplayer modes using your smartphone; you don't need an app. It's a collaboration with Mobile Joypad. There are three tracks to choose from and several vehicles. Unfortunately, there are currently no CPU opponents in the Arcade single-player mode, so you're still driving alone. There are no sessions in Multiplayer yet, but if you're playing with 2-4 people, the game will be fun with the new smartphone controls. Everyone has a smartphone these days, and some can even use a gamepad. The game is still in development, and you can see and hear where bugs still exist. If you crash, you respawn back onto the track, but then you have to restart the race. I'll keep an eye on it and will play again when new updates are released. I don't know what they did since the beta, but those cars sound horrible now. Unplayable horrible
It's a complete and utter miracle beyond modern science and knowledge that this game actually exists and we have it in our hands, even if the build we can buy and play is a complete dumpster fire. The backstory on how we got to this point is something you see movies get based off of. This game is broken and unfinished but I'm just here to support the fact that, finally, the right people have total control of the game. It's not ever gonna fully recover from the tarnished reputation, and it may never actually live up to the hype the original 2014 demo showed. But, in the future of 2026, games can be given a 2nd chance. This is how Charles and Co can prove that after a terrible, horrible, no good car crash, you can still rebuild and make it run again. Read about what happened, it's like The Social Network but for an indie racer, kinda: https://driftstageofficial.com/pdf/ds_statement24.pdf For the devs: when you put out new builds, I highly recommend you offer a demo that lets people unsure about the game's mixed reviews see the game's improvements. It's currently a very, very hard sell at $10 for what's essentially a non-working project. I do have hope though. I think we really need some right now.

guys are you ready
didn't this game used to have actual decent drifting physics? the cars are so slow and the maps are so big i can barely find anywhere to actually drift now... not to mention fighting with frame caps just to not have the world's most buggy audio imaginable... edit: the only map with any driftable corners is the original eventide highway track. also the dev abandoned the project yet again under the excuse of "looking for publisher"
needs some patches and upgrades cons *assigned racing keys wont save they always reset if you exist game or go all the way back to the start screen *no Bot versus only split screen, does have online multiplayer (nobody online tho) *no down hill drift stage map *only one game mode, would benefit from power ups more arcady fun game modes like mario kart *the stage selection all have the same thumbnail (i was playing this on a 5 in crt) so you have to read the stage name pros *aesthetics and music 10/10 *nostalgia effect +10 *car handling and selection 10/10 *maps 8/10 could use a few more but he included ones would make outrun proud *low price *1.88 mb could almost fit on a floppy disk not sure if thats what they were aiming for *absolutely full of fun potential if they actually patch it up and add a few game modes Yes i recommend this game, its one of those indie games that had massive potential if they had just finished it 8 years ago
