really good reminded me of metro and metroid prime

It is a gem of a game for what it is worth (which is free). It will remind you of old games that just work and you would play them despite their bugs. This game has good atmosphere, verticality and style to go along with it. There are some bugs here and there, but a project of this size, it makes me think that it is a beta of a game or a school project. But even if it was either of them, it is really good. Give it a try if you like shooters with some side power. PROS: - free (ofc) - decently polished (that it is a playable shooter with not much lag) - good atmosphere, verticality and style - old school shooter game - low but decent graphics - responsive devs - fantasy/sci-fi elements - puzzles - different methods to beat a game run - short (won't waste your time) - good reset checkpoints - in game lore (that is coherent) - single player game CONS: - a demo/school project level of game - not many animations for characters and objects, so sometimes the game feels off - low graphics for a game - has bugs (some even prevent progression) - only some part of the game has monologue/dialogue/random chatter - too short (for such a good game) Conclusion: Tome-seeker/10

I found this while looking for first-person Metroidvanias... sortof "Prime-vanias" if you will... and the tags matched up regardless of how accurate they are. I didn't read the store page before playing so I went in completely blind not knowing how long or short this would be. With that said, in spite of how short it actually was, I was not disappointed. Felt like a tech demo for a boomer shooter metroidvania-lite with clear inspirations taken from Warhammer 40k and... Escher I guess. There's a portal system that almost felt like it was straight out of Prey (2006) or something, and I loved how it was used for puzzles here. I'd absolutely love to play a full-length metroidvania like this. Probably won't happen, but a man can dream. And if Dreadtome 2 ever happens and actually is a full-length metroidvania type thing (or even if it isn't and is just more like a boomer shooter), I wanna be there for it.

I loved it. If it were at least a 4 to 5 hour campaign, I'd pay for it. Hope to see more from these guys.
