With a memorable cast of characters and more twists and turns than you could imagine, Dragon Quest XI S is one of the grandest journeys you'll ever have. If you want to clear this game, prepare to devote at least 80 hours—even more if you want to do quests and side content. There are no superlatives that can explain just how good this game is. From start to finish, top to bottom, this is the cleanest and most enjoyable JRPG I've ever played. It might not have the deepest gameplay systems, but everything it does have is flawless. It might rely on the unchanging Dragon Quest formula, but its the perfection of the series. It might not have the most dramatic story, but it has an unforgettable adventure. Where Final Fantasy undergoes a complete transformation with each new entry, the Dragon Quest series is the exact opposite. From the sounds to the gameplay, not much changes between iterations. But in Dragon Quest XI S, they brought the franchise to a modern generation with the polish it deserves. This is the most accessible entry in the Dragon Quest series, but don't take that to mean it's any degree lesser than its predecessors. Don't pass up on Dragon Quest XI S if you have any inclination to play it. When I wrapped up this game, I had put nearly 120 hours into it and my only regret was that I may never enjoy another JRPG I as much as I enjoyed Dragon Quest XI S. If you consider yourself a fan of JRPGs, or if you just want to try out a great game, this is the game for you. The demo goes through the first 7-10 hours of the game, so pick it up and try it out.
