Xenoverse 2 is complicated. If there was a mixed option, I probably would choose it. It's a good game overall, as long as you get the DLCs. The base game's story is meh (it's just a retelling of DBZ). Combat is the most nuanced out of any 3D Dragon Ball game while still having a low enough skill floor that you can still somewhat keep up (unless you're playing ranked, but there isn't anything you unlock from playing ranked, so just don't do it). The DLC storyline is surprisingly good (which you can get by getting the Super DLC Bundle, Extra DLC Bundle, and Future Saga Bundle). The difficulty/level curve is mostly good (looking at you, The Final Battle! - Two Powers Fade) as well. Game balance isn't amazing, but game balance has never been a strong suit of Dragon Ball games. Even with DLC power creep, it's absolutely still more balanced than Launch Sparking Zero (that was an absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lol). The only other major complaint is the absolutely horrid graphical style, but it seems to have been changed somewhat in version 1.26. I also heavily recommend turning glare off in the graphics settings, as it gets rid of the excessive bloom that sorta kills the graphics as well. Overall, Xenoverse 2 is probably the best 3D fighter from Dragon Ball. It's still flawed, but it's a game I've stuck with since 2016 for a good reason. I just hope that Xenoverse 3 gets a course correction from the absolute dumpster fire the beta seems to be.
