In an alternative & comedic twist on the classic [i]Frankenstein[/i] lore, you play from the perspective of Dr. Frank — an egomaniacal self-proclaimed "doctor" who is hellbent on building their own boyfriend (using corpse parts, vegetables, or whatever "creative" means necessary) and achieving revenge against the colleagues that shunned them, university that expelled them, and ex-boyfriend who stole their work to claim as their own. Aided by your assistant, Iggs, your goal is simple: build the hottest boyfriend ever to make your ex-boyfriend jealous and your former colleagues envious. The majority of the narrative is linear & relayed in a visual novel format, with dialogues occasionally prompting you with choices (some of which are meaningful and some of which give the illusion of choice). While there is little autonomy in the visual novel portions of the game, the task-oriented portions (such as building or finding clothes for your boyfriend) transition to a point & click format that allows you to uncover little details, experience different flavor texts, and potentially alter your ending outcome (depending on how detail-oriented you are in searching each area and speaking with each supporting character). Completing both endings is required for 100% achievement completion of [i]Dr. Frank's Build a Boyfriend[/i], and the "secret" ending is arguably more compelling (by a rather large margin, IMO).
