This game has been BROKEN for months on Linux, and I couldn't even finish the campaign when I started playing it again. While it used to work perfectly, now I'm forced to play it with Proton Experimental, at a completely wrong resolution (I have a 4K screen) and without HDR. Trying to force the correct resolution won't even launch. Furthermore, it's yet another game developed in an annoying "collaboration" with Nvidia that only allows DLSS. From what I understand, I should download some kind of package from GitHub, because the usual optiscaler doesn't work. In any case, to continue playing it in 4K HDR, I literally had to download a pirated version after buying the original game and start over. RIDICULOUS! As usual, you're only eligible to play if you own an Nvidia card and run Windows, because the integration of a competitor's FSR is never guaranteed, just as there's no guarantee that a game that no longer works with Proton due to various updates will be fixed quickly. These kinds of situations are precisely what put you off buying games, especially when you've decided not to give Nvidia two salaries for a top-of-the-range model and when you don't want to use the operating system of the other monopolist, Microsoft. I'm fed up with the Windows/Nvidia monopoly. I can't say it's a good game, so maybe I'll tell you in a year, when they fix it and I can finish it, or when I decide to scour the entire web for creative solutions to make a game that developers broke years after its release and was programmed to only work with Nvidia cards work.

Nach dem ersten Teil eine ziemliche Enttäuschung. Die Level haben ihre Natürlichkeit verloren und die Geschichte gänzlich alles was sie halbwegs interessant gemacht hat. Die Level sind überfüllt mit Gegner die allzu gerne Schaden verursachen bevor man überhaupt reagieren kann. Es hilft auch nicht, dass sie dabei wirklich überall sind, besonders hinter einem. Dort erscheinen sie bevorzugt. Es gibt noch mehr Kleinigkeiten die man einsetzen kann - keine davon trägt etwas zu einem besseren Spielerlebnis bei - vielmehr blasen sie es sinnlos auf. Auf dem höchsten Schwierigkeitsgrad sind die meisten ohnehin Selbstmord. Warum es in Level Herausforderungslevel gibt in die man ohne zusätzliche Munition oder Leben hineingeworfen wird ist mir schleierhaft. Dafür verliert man seine Bonus-Leben dort dauerhaft. Spaß sucht man hier vergebens. In vielerlei Hinsicht schien man nicht zu wissen, wie man Doom 2 besser als den Vorgänger machen könnte, die Antwort hat man zweifelsohne nicht gefunden. Viel langweiliges drinnen, aber kein Inhalt.
