DIVO

Fun, interesting take n platformers and their mechanics. Note: I hate platformers. Lovely graphics, straightforward mechanics, consistent physics, excellent use of environment to make me nervous about doing anything in the level.

Это же Tower Toppler образца 1988 года, только с хомяком! Но управление слегка безумное. В составе пака - почему бы и не взять, отдельно не стал бы.

Controls are far from being responsive or reliable, visually it looks ok-ish but nothing special but level design is far from perfect, frustrating and more teadios than fun.

Here's my review of this piece of ♥♥♥♥: Don't play DIVO, don't make your friends play DIVO, don't even look at DIVO. There are plenty of better FREE tower climbing games. Don't get one that feels like your constantly skating on ice, even when airborne. It's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game, with barely changing music (every few levels it finally changes) that loops forever, and with way too many collectibles. If you get it, I will not be to blame. Now if you will excuse me, I'm going to watch funny hamsters to remind me they aren't Satan.

I loved Nebulus and I am very open to remakes of this evergreen. But THIS...??? Why did the Hamster get such a wheel instead of something more precisely steerable ...like a shopping cart? You dont even know in wich direction it will jump from the stand or when it wil roll or stop instantly. Great example of the "we pimp everything with cheap graphix but in 3D"-Area! Just because i didnt have to pay for something, it doesn't mean i cant be disappointed.

DIVO looks quite cute, especially when you watch the trailer. Well, controlling a hamster inside a wheel is cute indeed and the graphics look cute, too, even though they are quite simple. The magnetic mode is also a nice and original addition which gives an alternative route at some points. But that's where the good things end and the frustration begins. Firstly and more importantly the controlls are very sloppy and the jump usually doesn't work the way you want it to. In addition to that, the game at most points doesn't forgive, and a slight movement mistake might get you from top of the tower to the bottom. And because of the camera you never know what's under, so every jump from one side of the tower to another might end up in the fire, meaning game over and starting again and thus giving you unnecessary and unfair deaths. So I don't recommend the game, unless you have quite a lot of patience and only if you find it in a discount (since, in my opinion, the 5€ it asks are quite a lot of money compared to what it provides...)
