EN 🔷Do you remember those "You Are a Hero" books? Well, it's the same thing here. It's like a hand-illustrated novel, and you have to choose an action in each scene/page. You are a farmer and something has been wrong lately, people are dying, shadows are lurking. The danger is everywhere. What will you do? 🟢The drawings have an amateurish, simplistic feel, but they are effective in what they depict. The music creates a good atmosphere of mystery. You can save your game (it's not always the case for free games, that's why I'm telling you this). I had a nice time playing it. I died a lot. LOL. ---> It's very short. It's FREE, so go for it! LOL. ---> C'est très court. C'est GRATUIT, alors n'hésitez pas ! :D Attention, pas de version française.

It’s super immersive and introduces us to Von, tackling heavy stuff like depression and hopelessness in a dark, compelling way. Every single choice you make feels genuinely important, guiding the narrative with a strong focus on action and consequences. **Fantastic introduction to the lore.** This is where the game struggles a bit. The biggest issue is the known bug where the text language resets to English every time you die or load a save. Since you die constantly, fixing the language over and over is a major pain and breaks the flow. The black-and-white, hand-drawn art style is unique and totally fascinating—it looks fantastic. It absolutely nails the dark, moody, and oppressive atmosphere. The focus is 100% on the story and the choices, so don't expect deep RPG stuff like inventory management or complex combat systems. If you're okay with simple, narrative-driven mechanics, you'll be fine, but they can feel basic sometimes. —

DIFFICULTY: 6/10 —

Heads up, this game is tough! The difficulty is high because you'll die, like, a *lot*. You'll have to repeat sections and try to remember which path worked before. It’s designed to kill you abruptly, so be ready to jump right back in after a quick rage-quit. Patience is key to surviving. —

Final Thoughts:
Disturbed is a fantastic and free peek into a deep, philosophical horror world.

neat little story
"Disturbed" is not a game, it's an e-book that's been dumped on Steam masquerading as a game. As a visual/interactive novel, this doesn't feature any notable gameplay, it's just a lot of clicking through badly written dialogue that would never have been accepted or published in print, which poses the question, "How did something this badly written end up on Steam?". When someone hoping to become an author is unable to get published in print, they spend $100 and dump their high school fan-fiction onto Steam, under the guise of a game. We can at least breathe a sigh of relief with this e-book... because it's not a fan-fiction about the authors imaginary girlfriend (believe it or not, this is what most Steam e-books are about). Instead it's a depressing CYOA about a bad farmer. This e-book isn't that linear and works more as a Choose Your Own Adventure, but the point still stands... nobody read a CYOA book and then said "Wow, what a great game I just played." Books aren't games. This was slapped together with the godawful Ren'Py visual novel construction kit... enabling terrible authors to publish books as if they were games when otherwise we might have been spared the pollution. So, just like no professional writing took place here, no professional software development took place, either. Visual novels/e-books are tedious at best... imagine the best novel you ever read, be that Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy or 2001: A Space Odyssey or Twilight (if you have terrible taste in literature), but then translate that to a format where the words dribble out and you have to click your mouse every time you wanted to read the next sentence, instead of just turning the pages. You'd think it was garbage. Now imagine that experience, but with much worse writing (because if these guys could write professionally, they'd be published authors and this would be on shelves in bookstores, and they wouldn't have to pay Valve $100 to self-publish this on Steam), and you have your average Steam e-book. One of the chief problems with failed authors polluting Steam with non-game E-books is that E-books can easily just be presented in a web browser... there's no justification for charging money on Steam for what might as well be a webpage. We don't spend thousands on buying a gaming rig to spend money on Steam for something Chrome or Firefox could do. While this E-book has no up-front cost, you can get better quality, professionally written books and comics for free online (from places like Project Gutenberg) or from public libraries. Steam isn't a comic book store, neither is it Netflix, it's for games. Your gaming rig is not a Kindle. It's impossible for me to recommend things to PC gamers that aren't really games.
