Space can be beautiful... and terrifying. I picked up Distant Space because I enjoy space games, and it ended up being a surprisingly fun experience. There's something special about exploring the unknown while never knowing what you'll discover next. The atmosphere is what stood out to me the most. Drifting through deep space creates a real sense of isolation, but that's exactly what makes the game so immersive. The visuals are clean, the environments are interesting to explore, and the soundtrack does a great job of pulling you into the experience. The gameplay is easy to understand, so you can jump in without spending hours learning complicated systems. Instead, you get to focus on exploration, discovering new places, and enjoying the journey through space. Distant Space is a brilliant tribute to the classic arcade space shooters of the 80s and 90s. It doesn’t try to complicate things with heavy stories or complex mechanics; it just throws you straight into the cockpit of a spaceship to blast waves of alien enemies.The gameplay is simple, fast, and highly addictive. Controlling the ship feels incredibly sharp, and the progression through the colorful, neon-lit levels keeps you locked in. Each level brings unique enemy formations and bullet-hell patterns that require quick reflexes to dodge. Accompanied by a fantastic retro synth-wave soundtrack, it nails the old-school arcade atmosphere perfectly.It is a small, lightweight indie title, but it is the perfect game to boot up when you want a quick, satisfying challenge without any fluff. A great casual experience! 8/10
