You arrive in a neglected, overgrown valley, clear out weeds (or in this case, "Night Thorns"), place down furniture, build houses, and manage a town filled with anthropomorphic neighbors. Instead of Tom Nook and Isabelle, your main landlord is Merlin, and Scrooge McDuck is literally running the local general store, selling you overpriced wallpaper and couches. [b]Real-Time Cozy Tasks:[/b] You spend hours doing the exact same daily chores: fishing in ponds, mining rock spots for gems, digging up buried treasures, and planting crops. It has that exact same mesmerizing, brain-melting "just five more minutes" loop that makes cozy games dangerous. [b]Extensive Customization:[/b] The clothing and furniture customization systems are massive. You can design your own outfits and completely terraform the valley, decorating different biomes (like a beach, a swamp, or a frozen forest) to match whatever aesthetic you want. [hr][/hr] [h2]Where It Actually Beats Nintendo's Blueprint[/h2] [b]No Tool Durability ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥:[/b] Thank Christ, your shovels, fishing rods, and pickaxes do not randomly shatter into pieces after twenty uses. You get your royal tools at the start, and they stay with you forever, completely removing the most annoying aspect of modern Animal Crossing. [b]Actual Story and Quest Lines:[/b] Instead of just aiming for a 5-star island rating with no real context, Disney characters actually have distinct personality quests, level-up tracks, and ongoing storylines. Hanging out with Remy to unlock recipes or helping Wall-E build a garden gives the grinding a genuine sense of purpose. [b]The Nostalgia Factor:[/b] If you grew up on Disney or Pixar, the game weaponizes nostalgia perfectly. Wandering around a valley while a beautifully orchestrated, lo-fi version of "A Whole New World" or "Under the Sea" plays in the background is incredibly comforting. [hr][/hr] [h2]The Catch: The Modern Live-Service Trap[/h2] [b]The Premium Shop Fright:[/b] Because it was originally planned to be free-to-play before pivoting to a paid premium title, the game still has the annoying DNA of a mobile game. If you want a cozy, low-stress game where you can cook meals with Remy, mine iron ore with Kristoff, and yell at Mother Gothel for being a toxic neighbor, this is an absolute must-play.

I have this game across almost every platform i LOVE It
I am pleasantly surprised by this game! I grew up very close to Disneyland so grew up with Disney. Being a 59 year old man who has been playing shooters since the very first Castle Wolfenstein on the C64, I wasn't sure I'd like this game. After talking myself out of it for a couple years, I finally downloaded it and so glad I did! It is such a relaxing and fun game to play. No tension or jump scare moments, a nice distraction that I ended up enjoying for a few hours already. Can't wait to see what comes next!

I can't get enough of this game. I am normally the kind of person who waits for something to go on sale before buying it, but Dreamlight Valley was worth every penny. I have now bought 2 of the DLCs so far, and I couldn't love it anymore. I can't put the game down. Some people think its going to be a kid like game, which is a tiny bit true since it is "cartoons" but I think it fits adults so much better. Sooo much to do which is great, you will never get bored or run out of things to do. The game also has a lot of updates both past a future. You can tell they are adding more characters, which is AWESOME! When I first played it over a year ago, there was no multiplayer option but now they have it! Its so much fun to visit friends and I am so happy they added that. I really have nothing bad to say about this game and its DLCs. This game has blown me away and I couldn't be happier. 200% WORTH THE PRICE! If you are thinking of getting this, do it :) I promise you will not be disappointed. 100s of hours worth playing! I LOVE DISNEY DREAMLIGHT VALLEY! *added* Since my review above I have played another 100 hours. I now own all 3 current DLCs. I still stand by my review, but it is only getting better the more I play. They are constantly adding new things to the game, which keeps things fresh and exciting. I have played everyday for awhile now, and none of my days have been the same. A lot of games get repetitive after playing this long, but Disney is the opposite! The valley has been different every single day! In my above review I mention that its "200% worth the price" and I can now say that it is a lot more than 200%. I can't wait to see what else Disney brings into the game and what DLCs will come in the future. I will admit... i'm addicted!
