Simple but fun and you find yourself hitting replay quickly after a few tries. See video for full review https://youtu.be/eWkJ2joqjfc
I Want to Continue! Discontinue is a futuristic, cyber, 'Tron-like' sports game, where you have to use skill and precision, to win. The simple-but pleasant graphics work well, but I had issues with throwing the discs accurately on then Rift S, and the in-game hands weren't lined up correctly with the Rift S controllers. I wanted to play a lot more than I did, but the misaligned controls prevented me from doing so. If the developer can fix this issue, Rift S owners will have a lot of fun! the music is chill, the game looks easy but dont be deceived lots of aiming and trying to hit those targets. I like that you can pick different levels and they are either harder or easier than the last level. for the price its a good buy. You will get a lot of play time out of this.
Game provided via the Steam Curator program. Discontinue is a VR arcade game. I believe the game draws inspiration from Tron. However I am unable to enjoy the game at all: - Game mechanics make no sense to me. - Physics are not matching your real world movements and this just kills the gameplay. - Boring, repetitive and lacking anything substantial. I cannot recommend the game. I had no fun playing it.
in 1982 Bally Midway released the Tron arcade cabinet with 4 mini games. Discontinue is like if you took the 'enter the MCP cone' mini game and made it into VR; you have to smash walls in your path with your discs that you can infinitely conjure and chuck from each hand, backhand, forehand, overhand, however the hell you want. but within those walls are polygonal enemies in that same art style shooting back at you that must be defeated before you can progress; because the platform moves and the music is bumping it FEELS like a rhythm game but plays strategically differently because the platform stops at points until all enemies are cleared. dodging the obstacles when required took some practice but everything else about the game is intuitive and you'll be flinging discs and sweating in no time. this game has workout potential and can get pretty frantic. clip: https://clips.twitch.tv/FlaccidFineTitanShazBotstix
I had a blast playing this ... Ok my aim needs work but that will only make me want to keep playing this amazing game
Here's a Totally Objective Review of the Game: https://youtu.be/tXjVfzxE93M (10/10)
Experienced on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers
Please note: I received a free Steam key through the Steam Curator Connect program. You can view my review & gameplay here: https://youtu.be/d7y2-ZIZQx0 This is in essence a disc throwing game where you have to be quick & accurate on your throws to destroy objects (including health pickups) and also block enemy projectiles while dodging / moving left or right to go around pillar obstacles. You are on a moving platform and at times have to destroy enemies in order to get moving again. Your goal is to survive the level and hopefully get the highest score at the end for bragging rights. Unfortunately, the core gameplay wasn't fun enough for me. It may be fun for others, but I found it too repetitive. Although according to the dev there are 2,000 levels, each level I tried felt mostly the same. Some had more enemies and some had me moving left or right more, but the core gameplay never changed. There were never any new enemies or challenges, just more of the same. The levels were different, but I couldn't describe to you how they were different because they all look very similar. The disc throwing takes some time to get used to. Eventually, I did get good at it. While some levels were more challenging, it was never fun for me. You have to hold the disc at the front center and it never felt natural throwing the disc. The enemy hitbox seemed overly generous as well. I would use my off-hand disc to block enemy projectiles, but it would inexplicably disappear at times. The music was good at first, but it also got too repetitive after an hour of playing. Some may have fun with this type of game, but I am going to uninstall it and never play again after 1 hour of gameplay. Thus, I cannot recommend it. Rate 4.5/10.
Hier mein Gameplay: https://youtu.be/g7X5jlABk1k
