Leftist dev controlling and silencing their comment section. A simple question and a concrete criticism ended up in getting a "warning" but don't worry "it is not a ban", like I care, brother. You're all Discord leftist chuds.
DFHack has been a must-have third party tool for many years but both the game and DFHack being on steam now makes it even more convenient to install and update. I couldn't even imagine playing Dwarf Fortress without it, there are too many useful tools that make things more convenient for the player (even if you disable the cheats). What I use the most tends to be the tools related to building. For example, being able to say "I want this stretch of walls to use this specific material" is possible with the base game but DFHack goes one step further by letting you plan the construction even if you don't have the materials yet and make sure that only the item(s) you specified can be used for its construction. There is also a tool that automatically pauses buildings that would prevent other parts to be built and unpauses them when said parts have been built. It is not limited to walls/stairs and such, you can plan your bedrooms and so on ahead of time, down to the quality (as a range) and/or material(s) you want for each individual piece. It ends up saving a lot of time from boring and annoying small things, letting you focus on playing the game instead of micro-managing your walls and bedrooms all the time. These are just examples of things DFHack has in store.

Borderline required to play the game at times, incredibly convenient and saves you a lot of time and effort, and has really cool features like Stonesense! A 3d isometric map of your fortress! Devs are a godsend to the entire dwarf fortress community, thank you for the work you do for everyone!!! <3
Useful tool that overlays ball-bustingly-simplifying tools when building, mining, etc etc. Must-have when playing Dwarf Fortress.
This is what you need to actually play Dwarf Fortress. It brings a bunch of utilities, automations, fixes, etc.
This game is positively astonishing. Devote enough time to learn it, and you'll play it for the rest of your life.
Awesome tools for an awesome game. Dwarf Fortress vanilla is not so bad anymore. But dfhack has so much more cool stuff than just fixing bugs.
