A walking simulator that has you dodging drones and battling a final boss. Easy achievements
Devolverland Expo is an unusual and creative experiment that turns a promotional event into a playable first-person adventure. Developed by Flying Wild Hog and published by Devolver Digital, it presents a fictional abandoned gaming convention where players explore empty halls, uncover hidden areas, avoid security systems, and discover the content left behind after the expo’s mysterious cancellation. Rather than simply acting as a showcase for other games, it creates a small but memorable experience built around exploration, humor, and the distinctive personality associated with its publisher. The strongest aspect of the game is its unique concept. Walking through a deserted convention center creates an atmosphere that is both entertaining and slightly strange. A gaming expo is normally filled with crowds, excitement, and constant activity, but here the player is left alone in a massive venue filled with forgotten displays and abandoned attractions. This contrast gives the environment a surprisingly engaging feeling, making exploration the main reason to continue playing. The level design does a great job of capturing the feeling of a real gaming event while adding a playful twist. Different sections of the expo are designed with their own themes, decorations, and references, encouraging players to look around instead of rushing through objectives. The attention to small details helps the world feel more like a carefully constructed parody of a convention rather than just a collection of advertisements. Every area feels like it exists to entertain and surprise the player. Gameplay focuses on exploration, light stealth, and simple first-person interactions. Players must navigate the expo while avoiding automated security systems and searching for lost promotional material, trailers, and secrets. The mechanics are intentionally straightforward, which fits the short and experimental nature of the experience. While the stealth elements are not especially deep and the action sections lack the complexity of a full shooter, they provide enough interaction to keep the exploration from becoming completely passive. The humor and presentation are where the experience truly succeeds. The game understands that marketing does not have to be boring when it is presented with creativity and self-awareness. Instead of feeling like a traditional advertisement, it feels like a humorous celebration of gaming culture. The exaggerated style, unexpected moments, and playful approach make the promotional elements more enjoyable because they are part of the world rather than interruptions. However, the limited scope is also its biggest weakness. Players expecting a lengthy adventure or a fully developed action game may find the experience too short and simplistic. The objectives are easy to understand, and after discovering all the major secrets, there is little incentive to return. The combat and stealth systems are functional but do not offer enough depth to carry the experience on their own. The game works best when approached as a creative showcase rather than a traditional commercial release. The overall presentation makes up for many of these limitations. The abandoned convention center is an interesting setting, and the combination of humor, exploration, and unusual design choices gives the game a memorable identity. It demonstrates how promotional content can be transformed into something interactive and enjoyable instead of simply being a passive advertisement. The idea itself is the main attraction, and the execution succeeds because it embraces its strange premise instead of trying to become something larger. On Steam Deck, the game should be a suitable experience for handheld play. Its relatively compact design, simple controls, and short session structure make it a good match for portable gaming. Players can easily explore the expo in small portions, making it a convenient title for quick play sessions. Overall, this is a clever and inventive experience that succeeds because it does something different. It may not provide the depth or replay value of a traditional action-adventure game, but its creative setting, entertaining atmosphere, and unique approach to game promotion make it worth experiencing. It shows how a publisher showcase can become a genuine interactive adventure when combined with imagination and a strong sense of humor. Rating: 8/10

I mean its free, its a fun idea to advertise their other games... no reason to not play it really... though archivments seem buggy. I got the "watch all trailers" archivment... but I am missing every single seperate "trailer archivment"... how is this possible XD
???/100
