Devastating Fog is a thrilling top-down survival shooter roguelike. You’ll battle enemies, upgrade weapons, and explore a haunting post-apocalyptic world. The combat is fluid, the atmosphere immersive, and the replayability high. While it has a steep learning curve and can feel repetitive, it's a rewarding challenge. Highly recommended for fans of the genre!
Good progression, permanent upgrades, fun game loop! I like it, and the price is great. Well worth my time and money! A part 2 or DLC would be welcome! It plays great on the Steam Deck! I have no idea why it is listed as unsupported, worked great for me as is!
Developed and published by juk3n, Devastating Fog is a roguelike survival shooter that drops players into a world consumed by a mysterious fog that has nearly wiped out humanity. The game builds its entire premise around survival in a hostile environment where visibility, safety, and hope have all been swallowed by an ever-present threat. Rather than focusing heavily on narrative exposition, it uses its post-apocalyptic setting as the foundation for a gameplay-driven experience centered on exploration, combat, and gradual recovery of the world. The result is a straightforward but engaging concept that immediately gives players a clear objective: fight back against the forces hidden within the fog and reclaim what remains of civilization. The game's core loop revolves around venturing into dangerous regions, eliminating hostile creatures, gathering resources, and improving your character through a variety of upgrades. As with many roguelike-inspired titles, each run offers opportunities to become stronger while challenging players to survive increasingly difficult encounters. The progression system provides a satisfying sense of momentum, rewarding both successful runs and failed attempts with resources that contribute to future advancement. This approach keeps the gameplay addictive, encouraging players to jump into another run after every defeat in search of a better outcome. Combat is accessible and easy to understand, making the game approachable for newcomers while still offering enough challenge to keep experienced players engaged. Enemies emerge from the fog in growing numbers, forcing players to balance offense and defense while carefully navigating the battlefield. Positioning becomes increasingly important as stronger enemy types begin to appear, and survival often depends on making smart upgrade choices rather than relying solely on quick reflexes. The steady escalation of threats creates tension throughout each run and helps maintain excitement even during longer play sessions. One of the game's strongest features is how effectively it integrates the fog into the overall experience. Instead of serving merely as a visual backdrop, the fog becomes the defining element of the gameplay and atmosphere. Every step into unexplored territory feels dangerous, and the act of pushing back against the darkness reinforces the theme of reclaiming a fallen world. This environmental mechanic gives Devastating Fog a distinct identity among many indie survival shooters that often rely on more familiar fantasy or science-fiction settings. Visually, the game embraces a simple but functional art style that supports its bleak atmosphere. The environments communicate isolation and destruction without requiring elaborate graphics, while enemy designs fit naturally within the game's apocalyptic theme. The presentation prioritizes readability during combat, ensuring that players can focus on surviving increasingly chaotic battles. Combined with fitting sound effects and a gloomy mood, the audiovisual design succeeds in creating a world that feels abandoned yet dangerous. The roguelike progression system provides much of the game's replay value. Unlockable upgrades, stronger weapons, and additional character options give players reasons to continue experimenting with different approaches. The feeling of becoming more powerful over time is rewarding, and the game's long-term progression softens the frustration of failed runs. Players who enjoy gradually optimizing builds and discovering effective upgrade combinations will likely find plenty of motivation to keep returning. That said, the game does reveal some limitations as sessions accumulate. While the progression mechanics are enjoyable, the overall variety of content may feel somewhat limited compared to larger entries in the genre. Players seeking extensive build diversity, large pools of weapons, or highly complex systems may eventually encounter repetition. However, the focused scope also works in the game's favor, as it avoids overwhelming players with unnecessary mechanics and keeps the experience streamlined and easy to grasp. Devastating Fog succeeds most when it embraces its central concept of survival against an overwhelming environmental threat. The combination of roguelike progression, accessible shooting mechanics, and a uniquely oppressive atmosphere creates an experience that remains entertaining throughout its runtime. Although it may not redefine the genre, it delivers a solid and enjoyable adventure that effectively captures the satisfaction of growing stronger while reclaiming a world lost to darkness. Miałem okazję w redakcji lubiegrac.pl testować tą gierkę i jak na robotę jednego człowieka, bawiłem się bardzo dobrze. Odpowiednie tempo i fajne emocje. Polecam!
