Good game
Good RTS which has a very similar feeling to Commandos. Even after all those years it's still entertaining
Desperados is a real-time isometric tactical game made in 2001 by Spellbound Entertainment where stealth is the second option, and eventually everything devolves into a good ol’ western shootout. Alongside John Cooper and his colorful band of misfits, you will traverse the southern region while hunting down criminals and committing several crimes yourself. Besides a couple of rare crashes, the game’s biggest problem, in my opinion, is the camera. The developers thought it would be a good idea to add a slow-moving camera that accelerates on its own and keeps going even when you do not command it. Obviously, this hinders the enjoyment of a game that requires plenty of positioning and fast reactions. The game offers many complex missions with numerous enemies to eliminate in creative ways. Each character accompanying Cooper has a very different set of abilities, allowing you to mix and match different methods of completing the roughly twenty missions. The main story is also interesting, competently connecting each new map to the next while constantly changing your roster. Some degree of jankiness is expected. The old engine does not run perfectly smoothly, with plenty of infuriating moments caused by bizarre enemy behavior, lightning-fast reflexes, or broken lines of sight. An extra degree of annoyance comes from the few missions that have strange failure triggers. Overall, however, it is a good isometric game from a great era, developed by people who clearly cared. Also, John’s knife and shooting abilities can carry you through most of the game; you just need to learn the timing and how to work with doors.
Great classic game ,even 25 years later
