It's pretty obvious and noticeable that this game is in development, but you can't hide the genius fundamental game design this game has. The game is set in an exciting and mysterious atmosphere that makes the player want to explore and wander around the post-apocalyptic world. The tasks are very straight forward, and make sense in the context of the story. Gameplay in general has a very pleasant and immersive feel where the sound design adds greatly to the experience. Overall, I would say that this is a promising game, with an exciting future and recommend everyone with a good eye to invest in the experience.
There's many things that can currently be said about this game both negatively and positively, The game overall looks very beautiful and everything is well placed. There may not be much gameplay and a few game errors but it is still in early access and there's still MUCH that is planned to come. And considering there was really only 1 to 2 devs working on this game, it is doing pretty good for what it is, especially as a first game release. If you can get past the minor errors and watch as the game comes to life then this game is most certainly for you. There's much potential awaiting this game!
Really boring game, different to other horror games and the concept is derivative. Graphically awful and the devs seem to really indifferent. Looking forward to playable game!
Game has an interesting concept, while a little rough around the edges and with a couple bugs, isn't too bad. While it is lacking in content right now from what I've seen of plans they have for it, I'm looking forward to seeing what this game will become in the next couple months. Its like 5$ so given the games road map, it seems like a good investment to see something that has potential to be a heavy hitter. (will update later on depending on how the game evolves)
It definitely different then last time I played, No shooting, no inventory, can only pick up one c4, creatures kill you instantly, no restart game button, no single player option unless you change it to one player. Only one mission which is the the same as old version. Jump scares. some doors the enter button doesn't appear which is the E button
First few minutes into the game, and I can tell there just was not enough work done on it for the time it's been in development. It's clearly unfinished even after two years. The gameplay seems to be one big fetch quest with a zombie that can't see two feet above the ground. It's very unoptimized, has very few settings that it doesn't even remember after you set them, and still has remnants of test interactions in the game (e.g. the doors have a "test action" prompt that doesn't do anything). If nothing huge changes about the game within the next year or two, it's safe to assume it was abandoned. Don't buy this as it is in its current phase.
It's a shame. The atmosphere in this game is spot on, but it's a bad experience over all. After the intro scene, you pick up a C4 to plant somewhere. Where? Well you sort of just stumble around in the dark until you find a glowing spot to put your C4. I ran around for 30 odd minutes and only found 2 of the 4 spots you can plant it on. There just isn't much gameplay to speak of here. You walk/run, plant C4 and find a note. There could be more to the game. but there is just next to ZERO information given to the player on where to go. There are still things like "test object" box that comes up when you open a door on the side of a building that reveals.....another door behind it that you can't open. This game could be good, but judging from the lack of activity in the dev discord, no updates to the game since March 2024, coupled with the fact that this is NOT listed as an early access title, despite the game telling you it's still under heavy development...I can only conclude that this game has been dropped. I get it, game development doesn't always go as planned, but at the very least, the devs should have put an announcement out saying what's going on. I do not recommend anyone to buy the game in this state.
Desolation is really fun and unique game, which spices up the generic horror formula. It's got some really fantastic graphics, with great audio design as well. I love the look and feel of the entire map, it really sells that you there and makes you feel immersed. Devs are updating every day as well, I look forward to the release out of early access. A great horror game, and for 5 bucks you can't go wrong
big up date make a big change for the good . i have now a facination for this game
The graphics are good and the horror was good, but the gameplay was halfway ♥♥♥♥. I stood still while an enemy was attacking for 5 minutes straight with no damage, I had to get closer for anything to happen.
