Descent 3

Симулятор сканирования видеокарты, такое я люблю.

I'm very pleased with this version of D3. I still have my old discs but they're getting almost to the point of useless (had to use that disk Dr. thing). There is one thing I can't seem to figure out though. I can't seem to use the black pyro in multiplayer games, but it does show up in the Merc singleplayer. It doesn't even show up in the ship customization area. It's just not there, even though Merc is bundled with it. I installed Win 10 and the next day bought the 10$ steam descent 3. It installed easily and I must say the game actually feels smoother than it ever has. There was a problem with it finding my twist axis, but it was just the sensitivity was defaulted to zero, easy fix. I use a sidewinder prepro. After only a slight bit of tweaking (command lines, weapon priorities, and the usual ship customization) I was playing online with friends. I'm not really sure what the other posters are talking about how dificult is is to get working. Use open GL even tho it warns you not to, and use the native resolution command lines in the "misc" in setup. Then use plus or minus to zoom to your screen. I've played this game since it released in 99, and this is my favorite version. It is so streamlined. I do wan't to try the black pyro though. Any help on this would be appreciated.

Takes a bit of fiddling to make it work but when it does its the classic super fun 6 degress of freedom shooter.

Well... my old PC stopped functioning and with the new one Descent 3 functions. I'm going to give a good test... see how badly I play. Thanks Steam, I'm really happy about this.

I wish I could give this game a positive rating, but with the moving to Windows 10, I cannot play this game without massive lag or missing 70% of the rendering. I even tried NGlide 3DFX emulation, very laggy. Tried all the compatibility settings with multiple setups, same issue. I even tried to install the DX9 packages for windows 10, but no go. When I feel like it, I will try this on my Windows 11 installation. To be honest, I am absolutely baffled how people were alright with this game when it released in 1999 as it is simply an outright mess and the story line was mostly irrelevant to Descent I and II's story. So this proves to me that humanity started to have an intelligence decay even back then. Should have left it with Parallax Software, Interplay. Oh well, at least I can play this game now as I have a windows 98 Se box, but even then, why should I if I have Descent I and II on there also, which are way better games in my opinion.

I just love the Descent series. If you have issues navigating in a 3D environment where nothing is up or down then you will have some problems with this type of game. But after training you senses and you get a feeling for the level it's a great feeling. Teaches you spatial navigation while being fun and entertaining.

Holds up today. Still a great game.

While the Mac version is still fairly buggy (Loading games has not worked for me, fortunately you can choose your starting level), this is a nearly forgotten classic and it still feels quite contemporary.

As the thiurd masterpiece in the Descent franchise, Descent 3 truly pushes the graphics limits of 1999. with thrilling new geometry, weapons, maps and action. I proclaim that this game and series is tremendously underrated sadly so little known. To anyone reading this, if you think you can handle piloting in six degrees of freedom, then this should be next on your download list
