What a wonderful lil gem of a game You're a patient in a mental clinic and going through the past/future/present using different fragments of your memories You have a friend, but only you can see him... or maybe not? It's about humanity and how we can safe the earth from destruction I definitely reccommend playing it 8/10
игра про мою жизнь, сбежала с дурки и сразу залезла в стимчик!
This isn't a game. It's a digital e-book/visual novel masquerading as a game on Steam. There isn't any actual gameplay here, just clicking through some of the worst writing to insult the concept of literature. This is the kind of writing that would never be accepted by a real book publisher, leading to this being dumped onto Steam Direct for $100 as if it was a game... it's not. This e-book from Russia connects incredibly cringey e-book fan-fiction writing with godawfully bad translation from the Russian it was written in. The topic of the book is the author's imaginary girlfriend, who has mental health problems and hallucinates. There's a bit of irony there if you think about it. Visual novels are tedious at best. Imagine the best novel you ever read, be that Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy or Twilight (kidding), but translate it to a format where you've to click your mouse for every single sentence instead of just turning pages. You'd think it was garbage. Now imagine that experience with much worse writing. If these guys could write professionally, they'd be in bookstores. They wouldn't have to pay Valve $100 to self-publish this on Steam. But here we are. Trying to address social issues through the medium of video games (or in this case, cringey high school anime club dropout fan-fictions) is misguided and can be harmful. While it's plausible to suggest the intention was noble, this can do more harm than good. Game developers are not professionals in areas of mental health and social problems, and when they use video games to pretend they are, this can cause far more harm than good. It's my opinion that it's improper to use video games to push political or social agendas. Apart from the harm such hamfisted attempts at addressing social problems can cause, this offers zero benefit to PC gamers. People suffering from health issues or other social problems should seek out professional help rather than going to crap shovelware video games attempting to get sales by exploiting such problems for their own benefit, as is the case here. On the upside, the E-Book does feature customisable controls and resolution, so at least some of the basic, minimum requirements have been met. Unfortunately there's a number of other technical defects and shortcomings which contribute to the game being difficult to recommend to gamers. Some of the defects in the E-Book can be attributed to the choice of using the GameMaker Studio construction kit/toolset. This is a very poor quality toolset favoured by amateur developers as it's cheap and requires little in the way of development skill, but unfortunately has very limited capabilities. Just as you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear, you can't make a great video game if you use a terrible engine. GameMaker Studio is most commonly used to make retro pixel shovelware and cash grabs. A strong argument can be made that construction kits like GameMaker Studio should never be used to make games for profit, as the "developer", Sempiternal Rain has done here. These construction kits are intended to teach people some of the basic principles of game development, and to make small demos to pass around with friends. They're not intended to replace to actual work of real, professional game developers. So it's inappropriate when amateurs try to use these for profit, without any actual, real game development effort taking place. This doesn't result in products that have any real meaningful value for gamers. These technical shortcomings push this E-Book below minimum standards for any competently developed modern PC game. The poor quality of this E-Book is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 2 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 130 million gamers on Steam and well over 140,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality E-Book is to be expected. Let's talk about pricing and the actual value this has for gamers. Is this E-Book one of the best of the 140,000+ games on Steam? derealization is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it. The quality problems and defects with this E-Book makes the asking price totally unrealistic. It's impossible to recommend this to gamers here on Steam. You can get better books for free online from places like Project Gutenberg, if you really want to treat your gaming PC like it's a Kindle.
Profile Features Limited! Valve have marked this E-Book as "Profile Features Limited" at the time of this review. This is usually caused by poor sales figures and low community acceptance for the E-Book (to date). Until this status changes, this E-Book will not give you +1 to your Game Collector badge count, appear in profile achievements or any other Steam meta-accomplishments, nor can it be displayed in some profile showcases. If these factors are important to you, it may be worth holding off before buying this E-Book.
“Earth is the cradle of humanity, but one cannot live in the cradle forever.”

derealization is a short but very compelling visual novel that leaves a much stronger impression than one might expect. I had previously played the developer’s earlier work, Snowfall’s Mystery. Despite its brevity and the feeling of being more of a concept or a sketch for a larger story, it already hinted at a distinct authorial style. In the case of derealization, the novel turns out to be even stronger. First and foremost, the visual presentation deserves praise. The minimalist yet highly expressive style perfectly conveys the sense of unreality, reinforcing the atmosphere.
Onisiy reminded me of Omen from Valorant - a very striking character (girls will understand), and I’d love to see fan art of him.
Despite its short length, the novel offers an interesting narrative structure built through fragmented storytelling, gradually forming a complete picture. The presence of multiple endings adds replay value and encourages revisiting the story to better understand what’s going on. It’s also worth noting that the text occasionally contains typos, so some moments may require a second read (a note for the developer). derealization feels like a well-crafted authorial experiment with a strong atmosphere and an intriguing presentation. I’m very curious to see how the developer will continue to develop these ideas in future projects. I’d recommend it to those who enjoy themes of psychological disorders and visual novels like Milk inside a bag of milk inside a bag of milk. P.S. You can skip the text using the right mouse button.
