I like trains
For $20 you’re getting a very fun game with a great amount of content. The game never slows down, is constantly introducing new complexities, and has great music.
I'll echo the general sentiment around the downsides of the game. The continuous addition of mechanics in each chapter, while initially fun, becomes overbearing and frustrating as the flow of which you are performing the function of the game (racking up combos through tricks in fast-paced levels) is damaged. The addition of the air jumps, double drift, and ziplines make the basic controls a little confusing and the mechanics are incomplete, but they add to the diversity of the levels. However, the gravity rail that begins in Chapter 8 is atrocious, breaking the flow of the game and increases the difficulty and complexity of what makes this game so good (stylish tricks on stylish levels). By the end of Chapter 7, I had finally gotten the hang of combos, usually averaging streaks of 40-50 before crashing. This is thrown out the window as I was forced to learn a new mechanic that was constantly bugged and forcing me to ensure I was dodging stage hazards instead of performing tricks. While I appreciate the challenge of the game through the dares, gold star times, and gold star scores, artificiality inflating the difficulty through half-baked mechanics really sours the overall experience. With all this negativity, how do I still give it 4 stars? Chapters 1-7 are an amazing, inventive, and high-octane experience that outdoes SSX Tricky. The soundtrack is fantastic and the boss fights are creative. By the end of Chapter 7, I was hooked and excited to gold star all the levels. I hate grinding, but somehow Denshattack had sucked me into chasing for silver and gold medals. If you are looking for a game that encapsulates style and adrenaline-chasing, then this game is for you.
