Where do I even start with 'Demolish & Build VR'? This game is so bad it's as if the developer has never played their own game! From the stupid menu system with a slot machine that is not explained to the "gameplay" that is nothing more than a low-poly sandbox with almost nothing breakable! In fact, you will struggle to know what you are doing because all the text is in Russian anyway with seemingly no-way to change it. But the lack of sound effects for me was the cherry on top of the ♥♥♥♥ pile. It is clear this game was not made for VR at all and was just an afterthought bolted onto it. Given the ridiculous £15.49 price I easily suggest people stay away from this until it has had a lot more work done to it and a massive price drop as well. Edit 20/10/2021 Here was the "gameplay" video that was captured with the Russian text in game - https://youtu.be/TI3rxbS5CLQ
Experienced on the Oculus Quest 2
You can view my review & gameplay here: https://youtu.be/sP3iQO4hRcQ I did enjoy playing this game. However, this game isn't for everyone. If you're looking for a physics sandbox game, you will be disappointed. If you're expecting a smooth & polished VR experience, you will be disappointed. This is a port of a non-VR game, Demolish & Build 2018. The good news is that it is a full-fledged game and not a demo. The bad news is that the VR interactions are quite basic & poor. This game actually reminded me a lot of House Flipper VR. I actually bought Demolish & Build 2018 just to compare the non-VR experience and I must say that the non-VR version looks better and is a more polished experience. However, the VR version does have its advantages, including being able to drive a bulldozer and raze a building. Keep in mind, you are only able to demolish tasked items. You can't use said bulldozer to go ham and destroy everything in sight. I do hope they change that in the future or maybe that feature is locked away further down the line than what I played. Another sad part is that you can touch a designated item to destroy with your sledgehammer and it will crumble with just a touch. You can swing if you want, but it is not necessary. I hope the devs patch that up so that you actually have to do real swings. I also hope they add a gameplay element that allows you to destroy things besides those designated, but that you lose money if you decide to do or accidentally do so. Also, as far as other tools like the jackhammer, you only one-hand them, you cannot two-hand them and that just doesn't feel right. You can also drive vehicles like a truck or a bulldozer. However, steering is pretty basic. You one-hand steer left and right and then use triggers to either use gas / throttle or brake. Fueling vehicles is basically just standing your vehicle in the marker and confirming you want to pay for fuel. The visuals look like maybe Xbox 360 quality. The sounds are just okay (the sledgehammer sound is pretty muzzled though). The music is pretty bad so I just turned it off. The menu UI is pretty bad, this game uses a slot machine type device to use your saved slot for some strange reason. There's several point & click interactions. Despite all the above issues, I was having fun with the razing of buildings & empire growing aspects of this game. There's a fun gameplay loop of selecting jobs, using money to buy new vehicles or tools, growing your business & unlocking new types of jobs. Game is running on the Unity Engine. On my RTX 3080, I was getting steady 90 fps on high graphical quality. I did not experience any serious issues or bugs, although the game does feel janky overall due to poor VR interactions. You have full locomotion or teleportation available, with snap turning. Rate 6/10. Note: my listed playtime is incorrect, I played this game longer than 2 hours.
Please note: I received a free Steam key through the Steam Curator Connect program.
Is pretty boring, the controlls are bad and half of the map is not aligned properly
Oh mein Gott.
Games broken and no response from the devs. Completed missions I never started and can't start missions I need to progress the game, movement speed is diabolically slow and the teleport distance is tiny...
J'ai acheté ce jeux et c'est inadmissible de le vendre puisqu'il est buggé, impossible de commencer la première mission il ne se passe rien lorsque l'on click sur acheter pour l'achat du bureau !
This is abandonware.
