About
In Deepest Dungeons, a rogue-like adventure with extraction elements, you will descend into the depths of an ever-changing labyrinth. The maze shifts with each venture, challenging your resolve as you delve deeper into the darkness.
You play as a young adventurer who follows the king's call to reclaim the valuable runes stolen by mysterious monsters from the depths. With only the courage in your heart and the gear you gather along the way, you must survive the relentless dangers of the dungeons and explore the deeper levels to bring back what was taken.

As you explore, you'll face powerful creatures, deadly traps, and uncover hidden treasures. To reach deeper levels of the dungeon, you'll need to find special keys hidden within. Along the way, you'll discover rare items and equipment to enhance your survivability, giving you the edge needed to pull through the dangers below.

Each dungeon is a unique maze filled with its own set of challenges and dangers. As you descend further, the mazes grow larger and demand greater use of your wits and the tools you've discovered to navigate and locate the exit.

Sometimes, you'll come across exits that lead out of the dungeon. It's your choice: return to the surface to save your progress in the Stashbox and reorganize yourself, or continue deeper into the dungeons, risking everything for greater rewards.

As you venture through the dungeons, you'll come across gear and items, left behind by those who ventured before you, that enhance your abilities in combat but also provide crucial advantages as you navigate the dungeon’s twisting corridors.

The dungeons are filled with lurking monsters and deadly traps. As an untrained adventurer from the countryside, each enemy you face requires special attention. The deeper you go, the more threatening the monsters become. Stay alert - every encounter could be your last.

Death isn't the end. While you'll lose your progress, the items in your Stashbox from previous runs can aid your next attempt. Learn, adapt, and descend again, growing stronger with each fall.
And for those who conquer the depths, a new challenge awaits - New Game Plus lets you dive back in with enhanced difficulty, offering new dangers.

Reviews
I know how hard it is to make a game, and even harder to publish one, so my review will be a positive one, with some feedback. First of all, I went until floor 4, in about 45-50 minutes, and died there. I did come back to camp twice in the run, to sell and buy gear. Reached level 4. COMBAT PROs: -Timing your attack speed to cancel enemy attack throught stagger feels nice once you get it. Roll dodging back/ running back with a flick of the mouse to not loose speed to avoid attacks is fun to do and a cool mechanic. -some enemy become enrage and cannot be staggered, which is always cool and favor a careful approach -enemy variety is slowly displayed along the levels, to get use to it. Ranged enemies are violents (
f*ck these poison goblins
) CONs: -every weapon have the same basic moveset, wich is just swinging left to right. Club, sword, shovel, everything i tried had the same very basic pattern, with only damage changing. That in itself wasnt satisfying, and took out a lot of pleasure from the combat and the discovery of new weapons. I know there is a second attack for some weapons, but it seemed underwelhming. -Projectiles must be avoided, as there is apparently no invinsibility frame while rolling. That isnt a negative in itself, just something to know and play with. Not a fan of it, but it is a choice from the devs. -not a fan of how the healing potions work (instant healing, and you can have a lot of them, make it feel like a diablo like at times) EXPLORATION PROs: -the procedural generation is interesting and seems mostly well done. CONs: -Every level is a small labyrinth where you need to find a key to open the door to the next level. A choie from the devs, just not really my cup of tea. I would have prefered to just be left exploring the level by myself to find interesting loot or XP instead of being forced to find a key in every level. -There is (to my knowledge) only one very obvious type of 'secret' in every level to discover. Almost nothing you can interact with, except doors, chests and bodies. A bit underwhelming for a dungeon crawler. -There is a lot to loot, but almost nothing interesting or exciting (a few gold coins, a broken sword, a skull head, etc...) Just once I looted a new weapon with better stats, but same pattern as everything else. -Traps are just slowing down the exploration, and cannot be deactivated, so forget about the loot of the enemy you lured on it to die. Character progression / Gear PROs: -simple system, easy to understand: weapons deal damage, armor block damage (magic or physical). Thats it. CONs: -way too simple for a dungeon crawler, without any depth. -level up is just choosing between 3 upgrades (like 5% more crits, or 5 more pv, 2 more stamina regen, etc...). No competence, or significant improvement. Doesnt feel very impactful and leveling up isnt really rewarding. -The lack of competences is very underwhelming, and it feels like our character isnt really customisable. I'll be honest, I didn't really enjoy my time with the game, as I was expecting more out of a roguelite dungeon crawler. It currently feels like a prototype of what could become an enjoyable game if it was given more time to refine and deepen its systems. I'll leave it at that, and wish all the best to the devs for the future!
Basically all of the positive reviews for this game are from people who have played it for 20 or 30 minutes, and yeah, the first 20-30 minutes is fun. I'd even say the first five or six hours are fun, but after that the major design flaws of the game really 'shine.' If you're going to make it where the player loses everything on him/her when he/she dies, fine, but you HAVE to let the player leave after every single floor completed. In the beginning of the game, you have to clear two floors before reaching an outpost, which essentially lets you go back to camp. Later in the game, you have to complete THREE floors before you're able to get out, and mind you, these floors are SIGNIFICANTLY more difficult than the beginning floors. This is an insane design choice. Sure, you have a stash where you can put extra gear when you get out alive, but the only time you're gonna get out alive is in the earlier stages when the loot you're bringing back is completely obsolete anyway. There is ZERO reason to save any trash gear. You basically have to sell everything in order to afford the really good stuff from the blacksmith in the camp, but you'll never get there because you die with hundreds and hundreds of gold in the dungeon because you never get any back to camp. The game basically forces you to grind and grind and grind the early, easy floors to amass a huge amount of gold in order to get good gear, and THEN you can go into the harder levels. Sorry, devs, I ain't about that life. Now I know you're thinking, 'Dude, just git gud.' Under normal circumstances, I would agree, but the combat in Deepest Dungeons is beyond jank, to the point where you will just end up trying to cheese the harder enemies just to even have a chance at staying alive. If it wasn't for the horrendous combat and a couple other head-scratching design choices they've made, this game could be something really special and fun. They had a cool idea and ♥♥♥♥♥♥ it all up.
Huge improvement from the demo, really like what you made out of it. I think there is still some room for more content (different weapons, armor) and things you can do with the maze (more interactables, different types of doors) but hopefully we will get a few updates fixing that.
I played this game for a little bit and its pretty fun. At first there was an annoying bug but after contacting the devs it was quickly resolved. It took me a bit to get used to the way you have to fight to get as little damage as possible but now I am wrecking every enemy. I think the game is pretty nice. Can recommend
Works on Steam Deck. Cozy dungeon crawler with moderate difficulty so far. If you like slower games instead of rapid reflex ones, this is a great game. Torchlights are versatile - buy them!
I have to admit... I got this game thinking it would be pretty cool. I got into it, and realize it's one of those games where you can lose everything on you if you die. Even the items you bring with you into the dungeon are at risk. Ok fine, high risk high reward. Let's go! I love the general look of the game, the artwork is cool. And then.... as I'm getting ready to delve for my first run I go to the combat tutorial. LB and RB (upper shoulder buttons) for primary and secondary attack??? And I cannot remap them? You cannot be serious. Sorry developers but LB and RB do not work for me, they are the most uncomfortable buttons to reach for with the way my hands work. I've worked with numerous gamepad types, and on every game I map LB/RB to be low frequency functions. Why on earth can I not remap these buttons? This was such an oversight, it's hard to understand. This is a refund for me. The game does not have simple accessibility functionality, and that's just too bad because it was something the developers should not have missed.
This is already 1 of my favorite games as a roguelike style. I really enjoyed playing it 9/10. The only con for me is the voice acting but it's a minor complaint if you ask me. https://youtu.be/-IDo0QP1e8Q?si=kn59Pq-1uQ1y73mn
Excellent easy to understand. Basic top down dungeon diver. will be playing more!
