EST Completion Time (1 Playthrough): ≤ 5 minutes Achievements Available: 22 EST Completion Time (100% Achievements): ≤ 5 minutes Trading Cards Available: 0 (N/A) Claiming to offer an "immersive sensory deprivation experience" simulating what life might feel like for an individual who is both deaf & blind, DeafBlind is more of an experience than a game. While the developer could have crafted a meaningful & unique experience (such as requiring a controller & utilizing Haptic Morse Code or vibrations + frame-precise techniques), they've instead presented players with nothing more than a black screen, silence, & 22 achievements primarily based on common keystrokes used in gaming (such as
WASD for movement
,
SPACE for jump
,
I for inventory
, etc.). Aside from the effort spent in utilizing achievements for storytelling (if you can even really call it that), the developer didn't even take themselves or the experience seriously enough to code their own "game" or craft their own informational/promotional texts — instead relying on AI for assistance, which is laughable when you consider how low effort the rest of the game is (being a black screen without audio). Perhaps the only somewhat clever & redeeming aspect of the game is that you're forced to pay attention to your inner voice and sit with your own thoughts — something that seems exceedingly difficult for many in the digital era. In short, DeafBlind is nothing more than an ignorant & ableist commentary that neglects to acknowledge that individuals who are both deaf and blind still experience the world via other sensations (such as touch, taste, & smell); while the technology doesn't exist to use the latter 2 sensations in gaming, there is an opportunity to utilize touch in more dynamic & meaningful ways than we currently see in the industry.

Daredevil has always been my favorite superhero, and thanks to this game, I can finally experience what it feels like to be him.

I spent a long time waiting on the game’s Steam page for the images to load. Then life happened, and I forgot. I waited again after launching the game. Eventually, it clicked. Staring at this pitch-black screen and the actions I repeat that once held meaning, I thought about many things. I wondered if I would regret never playing games again. I recalled my favorite games across genres, their value, and the joy they brought me. In the end, there was only one sad conclusion:
I would only feel regret over not playing FEMBOY games, because they are the only thing I lack in real life yet wish to have.
One of the best Indie games I've played. Would pay good money for the Julia Brace DLC. Would highly recommend for anyone and everyone. 41/41 stars.
The summary or game description seems to make you think that there's actually a story, and you'd have to navigate the world where you are deaf and blind, but basically it's just a black screen, and nothing else (unless there is a secret which i'm not aware of). Rather than downloading this "game", just blindfold yourself and wear earplugs, and try to navigate your surroundings, this is a better experience i think. And i don't understand why many are giving this a thumbs up, like are you trying to make fun of the deaf and blind?
DeafBlind
I expected something from the game, I shouldn't have apparently. I was hoping the game would make us use other mechanics than the ones we're used to using for playing: seeing and hearing. I even tried connecting a controller, hoping there'd be something to do with the vibrations. Results: nothing. A black screen, a few successes, and that's it. Maybe I missed something? I don't know, but if that's the case, it might have been necessary to give a few hints in the game descriptions, because it looks pretty empty to me. Disappointed. Kind of felt like a meme/troll game. I can't even ALT + F4 my way out besides it gave achievement for that :D
