I got this "game" for free and it immediately gave asset-flip vibes, and boy was I right. This isn't even a game; there is no gameplay. If for whatever insane reason you're actually considering buying this just know that you can not; jump, crouch, prone, loot enemies, craft, or really ANYTHING besides walk around a stock world and shoot AI-less, motionless zombies. It's just another example of 3 different asset packs flipped to scam people, disguised as an "early access survival" DayZ reskin. This isn't even a game and I highly doubt it ever will be, here's some "gameplay" from my review/first impressions to serve as proof of exactly what I'm talking about: https://youtu.be/UofKx6SmZYs Don't ever buy this.
The game, as it is, is a big map where the trees and buildings pop in as you approach. They are filled with mostly nothing, but there are some random bullets and cleaning supplies placed in the middle of empty rooms. The zombies barely notice that you are there and drop in two punches, making getting firearms superfluous. The hunger and thirst meter drops so quickly that I died after playing for 10 minutes. That's not how humans work, not even a little. This needs to come off steam and have the 2-3 years of development the dev says in the early access section done before it returns. https://youtu.be/uZMhKkd7n4U
"Deadpoint" more like "DeadGame"
For a 2 dollar Pre-Alpha build, this is not bad. It has some of the basics of the open world survival, like looting, hunger/thirst, zombies, enemy scavs, gunplay and clothing, vehicles, and even a rudimentary trader. They definitely need some refining, but they are there. The gunplay was honestly feeling pretty good if I were to highlight anything. I purchased this as more of an investment into the future of the game, as I can tell that the devs clearly have some vision with this game that they are trying to go through with. BUGS/ISSUES I NOTICED: When you kill an enemy scav, their torso disappears. When aiming down sights, the third person crosshair stays on screen, blocking the iron sights. Different ammo types are all called 'Ammo'. Bears are way too weak, and disappear when killed. Too many bushes in the forest area. Hard to see anything. Third person camera needs to be more right of the character to see better. When attempting to discard your equipped weapon, the 'discard' button appears off screen and is unreachable. You can hear zombie sounds from almost everywhere, yet barely see any zombies. Switching backpacks is almost impossible. FOR THE DEVELOPERS: What you have here is a good start. You can turn this into something REALLY good, but I think right now you need to focus on refining the gameplay rather than adding new guns and locations. Refine the movement, refine the inventory, refine the shooting and the AI, add more mechanics and features rather than content. Base building/barricading, more crafting, more hunting, vehicle upgrading, even maybe a leveling system. You can add more guns when the gameplay is solid. I think you can make a really great game out of this if you just focus on good and interesting features and mechanics. That is what will get people to play.
the price is quite cheap, and the gameplay is also good, I highly recommend this game
Still too early. Sample Gameplay: https://youtu.be/PEewQ7ICGBU Its a pretty empty game as of now. Movement, guns, looting, and riding cars are working. There are also some quests you can do, but I do not think its worth the time. I think its too early for you to play this game right now and enjoy, not unless you just want to kill zombies. Still, giving this a thumbs up because you can kill zombies by running them over using cars. I kind of like that feature.
The game in it's current state you play the man with the world's fastest metabolism. Food and thirst burn down quick. so fast that moments after hitting zero your character will drop dead on the spot. So get your running shoes on cause it's a constant race to find the two resources that will kill you quickest if they hit zero. Initial humor aside let me get the bad out of the way. At the time of posting I'm nearing two hours into the game, not quite there. It's glitchy, you occasionally fall through things, zombies clip partly but do not travel through walls. The buildings fell randomly plopped and some are repeated. HOWEVER, that's to be expected in an alpha build of a game. it's not a bad framework so far. I've only fallen through the world once. Character can sort of swim, the weapons feel/sound decent, the zombies move ok. It's..more functional that many alpha builds I've played on steam. All that AND the best part? The dev does seem to be accepting criticism pretty well. I know, I know supposed to be talking about the game not the creator but hear me out. I've played games in similar states of progress and design and a lot of the creators (not all) don't know how to accept input. So it's nice to see someone noting issues and being friendly as they get the game's issues sent in to them. Hard not to appreciate it. Should you get it? Well, if you can accept it's alpha with a loooonngg ways to go and want to chuckle and silly bugs and growing pains, go for it. If not? then maybe wait till later on this one.
Deadpoint is a very fun game. Its still in early access, some rough edges but mechanically very in depth and fun, the combat/gunplay is satisfying, good variety of weapons and zombies. The open world map is very good and large as well, looting and crafting is great, vehicles are fun to drive and very useful, there is also an in depth building system though i haven't tried that out yet. For $5 which is actually $2.5 because of regional pricing i highly recommend this game.
Keep an eye on this one over the next couple of years, the mechanical skeleton being built here will allow for an interesting take on the genre.
My inventory got bugged as hell, i had a backpack full of my food but then it wasn't "pickable" got ghost item instead. Same with AK rifle. A pack of batterys broke my game becaue it was "stuck" and always visible. I had fun i think
