DEADCRAFT started out really positive for me, but the more you play, the more you quickly realize that there just isn't a whole lot to it and what there is has been recycled ad nauseam. The farming aspect is incredibly basic, crafting is monotone and the entire gameplay loop is repetitive in a bad way. That isn't to say that there isn't something good to be found here. In fact, I thoroughly enjoyed my first few hours with the game. You gather resources, fight zombies, are able to grow your own zombies and do fetch quests. It's a basic, entertaining gameplay loop - for a few hours. The game stretches those few hours to, from what I can tell, 25-30+ hours of the same things over and over. Though, as time goes on, skills will cost more SP and crafts will cost more and rarer materials leading to more grinding. Once I beat the first boss, I was ready for the game to be over soon, but some quick research tells me there is another 20+ hours of this. It's one of those titles that I would really want to like and there has been effort put into it, but it's just too repetitive overall. It's not helped by the very samey soundtrack and pointless restrictions - you can, for example, only have one sidequest active at a time, which slows down the game unnecessarily as you walk back and forth through the same areas. Crafting is also a bit too annoying as the menus aren't well structured and the inventory is WAY too restricted with no way to expand it ever, which means it will be constantly full. With a bigger inventory and the ability to have multiple sidequests active, I would have enjoyed myself a bit more. On a large sale, DEADCRAFT might be worth a look if you can stomach very repetitive gameplay cycles and like the general aesthetic of the game, but for me the game is too long for the little variety it offers and many of the small problems serve to just lengthen the game time unnecessarily.
I'm not really sure why people dislike this game. I'm currently 18 hours in, and about halfway through the story. I haven't run into any glitches, and I like the story as well. There are multiple types of weapons to use if you feel like the combat is getting stale, you can switch to a different weapon type. It's an RPG for $20 that I'd pay double for. I'm hoping they make a second game some day.
I can recommend it though it is much more like a playstation 2 era game. Maps are small, but packed with quests. Characters are pretty wacky in a good way. Graphics are adequate. Sounds are good. Combat is good. Base building is good. What I could ask the Devs to do next time? Make it an open-world sandbox instead of following the Harvest Moon/Stardew Valley formula.
Very fun game. I really enjoyed how simple and fun the game is. The progression was nicely paced with abilities. I was craving a game like this and didn't know it till I played it. I hope they make another game with expanded zombie farming mechanics.
Better than reviews were saying. It's basically harvest moon with building a small army of zombies and action-rpg gameplay. The stamina had me worried, but it's really not a big deal. Just spend all your starting points, which come very quickly, on stamina, being less thirst/hungry, and then go for weapons. I love the voice acting, i wish there was more, and the gameplay while a mess-- it's very fun. Really surprised I like it 9/10.

+ simple survival and grinding + with yout own zombie army + weird ingredients + simple story + zombie thumbs up + oh...there is friendly fire + you can attack and kill innocent citizens + weird but cool characters + love japanese voiceover especially Jessie + jessie mode + some interesting things can be made + old foes, new friends + I think I saw Allmight somewhere? + lol Marriage (weird) + some interesting quests about surviving, death and tragic things - gameplay can be repetitive - sometimes zombies can hit friendly units in town, while fighting (turning the town against you) - or pretty much disturb you while getting away, or moving to certain spots - omg these npc quest will murder you - story pretty much low based - a lot of running around an teleporting (kinda) Conclusion: All in all its a pretty solid survival game, with interesting mechanics and skills. weird character in an apocalyptic world. Gameplay is pretty easy, no time limits (except Jessie Mode). You can enjoy it pretty much. This game have some faults and missing some QoL. But its ok and doable. Its pretty fun in its way. You should play it! Score: 80 13/10 Zombies everywhere 13/10 Planting! 1337/10 Jessie Madness
TLDR: buy it on sale. Okay, this is going to be hard to be positive. I'd have to rate this a 6/10 for personal reasons. This game is a GRIND. Some of the grind isn't that bad, other parts of it are downright insane. There is a location you have to go into towards the end of the game just to make a piece of gear you might enjoy using, but required for the story progression. This same location is the only spot you can find certain gear unless you are late/post game and have more than enough money just burning a hole in you wallet. The story isn't bad, but it's predictable. Voice acting is good, but the writing is crap. The keyboard mapping isn't fantastic, and some of the combat options just don't work like you expect. Dodging is the big one I'm looking at, you can still get hit if your dodging. There's a serious delay for some controls in combat as well. And back to that grind I mentioned, one side mission will ask for 1 million currency. Supposedly you can just grind out some farming of gold veggies, but I didn't want to do that. Have fun with it or skip it, it's your money.
