About
You're Ed Lasso, world-renowned adventurer and rootin'-tootin' cowboy with a lasso that never misses and a thirst for trouble that never quits. When whispers of the Lazarus Stone, a relic said to pack the raw punch of forgotten gods, reach your ears, you saddle up and charge straight into the Temple of Shadows, a sprawling, trap-riddled labyrinth buried beneath forgotten jungles.
Deep within this forgotten labyrinth of crumbling platforms, lethal traps, and shifting shadows, mysterious glowing sacks of golden dust are scattered across the ruins. Collect them all to awaken the Lazarus Stone and claim its legendary power. Master new abilities as you find the power-up relics: Dash across chasms, Glide with your lasso, soar with triple jumps, blast through walls with bombs, scale sheer cliffs, swim through flooded chambers, and more.
With 190 hand crafted rooms, you explore a vast, interconnected temple filled with secrets, hidden paths, and one very strange tentacle-dwelling cowboy who’s a little too happy about his situation.
Dodge enemies, solve environmental puzzles, and chain your growing moveset in true Metroidvania style as you unravel the temple’s deadly mysteries.
Will you claim the Rune… or become another ghost in the shadows?

Amazing little platformer with a touch of metroidvania and plenty of useful abilities that make collecting all the bags a fun experience rather than a chore. When you start the game, you find yourself in the middle of a temple with no introduction at all. Only by opening the pause menu can you read a few short story paragraphs that explain who you are and why you’re exploring the temple: to collect bags of gold dust meant to power a mysterious stone. With the objective clear, you can begin exploring the big temple, which consists of 220 rooms. You don’t get access to a personal map right away, but this is rarely an issue thanks to the large torches scattered throughout the temple. These act as checkpoints and also allow you to view the map. For anyone worried about an achievement that requires beating the game without dying, there’s good news: no such achievement exists, and everything can be obtained in a single playthrough if you’re aiming for 100 percent completion. Each room occupies a single square on the map, though the map doesn’t show the exact layout of the temple. Instead, it highlights your current position with a red marker and, more importantly, displays question marks on squares that contain gold dust bags. The map also shows which rooms you’ve already visited, but since you won’t always have the right tools to collect every bag, you’ll often need to return later. Progression is tied to power-ups that let you explore new rooms, reach previously inaccessible areas, and open new paths. At the start, your abilities are limited to basic movement and jumping. After a few rooms, you’ll find a double-jump upgrade. Later on, you’ll acquire an orb that activates previously invisible platforms, a lasso that allows you to descend slowly, and a few more that make exploration fun. The game doesn’t hold your hand, giving you the freedom to explore as long as you have the required abilities. If you hit a dead end or encounter an obstacle you can’t overcome, the solution is simply to backtrack, try another route, and hope it leads to a new ability or keys that open doors of the same color. Rooms are small but designed in a way that keeps them from feeling repetitive. Environmental elements change here and there, and rooms contain some kind of hazard such as spikes, lava, flying fireballs, or falling stones. Death is instant and sometimes accompanied by a stylish animation, but since checkpoints are generous, you never lose much time or progress. This is not a precision platformer, and over time you’ll unlock familiar abilities found in many fun platformers, including dashing and even triple jumping. The only real nitpick is the amount of backtracking involved. Unless you take screenshots of the map or make notes of breakable walls, locked doors, or other obstacles you can’t deal with immediately, you’ll likely revisit the same rooms multiple times while searching for the path forward.
This would be a nifty micro Metroidvania at only five bucks, but it has a few critical glitches. It's utterly terrible at keeping track of your progress, so there's a good chance you won't even be able to finish the game, and repeatedly switching from windowed to full screen mode causes the graphics to irreversibly blur until you can't see anything whatsoever. I can't recommend this game until it gets some patches to restore basic functionality.
A fun, non-violent adventure. Game is short, but worth it for the low price. Great fo someone new to Metroidvanias.
Decent short collectathon/metroidvania, would recommend for a quick little adventure.
Lovely little bite sized metroidvania!
Played on 512 Steam Deck without issues. This is a fantastic great time! So much value for your money. Just get it. I liked this game!
There are games that you can buy for 10, 20, 30, 40 (I'm sure you get the picture) times what this cost (less than $2AUD) that don't come close to the quality of gameplay that is on offer here! Such a great little search-action game that looks great, feels fantastic to play, and even concludes in a way that you're ABSOLUTELY not expecting (or, at least, I wasn't). One of 2026's hidden gems, for sure!
100% in a little under 2 hours. Fun game with good movement. I wish the teleporters were marked on the map. I had issues where my character would jump when holding the jump button to glide. I also had issues where my character would fall through platforms even if I wasnt pressing down. Outside of that solid game.
A fun platformer. I enjoyed the 3 hours I spent playing it to the end, and enjoyed every minute. It's a lovely little journey, with the usual sort of power-ups like double jump and dash etc. It doesn't have the violent angle that other platformers always include as default. You don't need to kill a single thing to proceed, and the story, while barely there, reminds you why you are playing it at the end and at one or two other points throughout. I sat and played and I really did enjoy myself without seeing the toxic outlook some developers have, where the game should punish you instead of reward. It was a real se4nse of achievement when I found the little drops you have to collect, and learning how to collect the little sacks scattered all over the place didn't feel so much like a chore as it might in many other platformers. For a two person team this is really better than I was expecting, especially for the really low price. Really would recommend this if you are after something fun and want to feel you had a nice time for a few hours on a rainy afternoon. I look forwards to further chapters in the tale of Dead Lasso.
