About
A video was recovered from a VHS cassette found next to a quiet farm road.
The person who filmed it was playing the "Dead Apples Dare". Review the video and discover what happened.
There's a rumor that what happens after completing the video is part of the dare...
Walking simulator. The controls include walking, running, flashlight operation, and interact.
There is no combat, and encounters can be dealt with in two ways, one of which is simply running.
The game features a stylized VHS filter with a particular aspect ratio and screen artifacts.
Elements of the game include an analog asthetic.
The game can be completed in less than 30 minutes if running without exploring.
Exploring can add approximately 15-30 minutes of additional gameplay, depending on whether the player walks or runs.
There are several checkpoints, but no save system due to the short length of the game. The game is linear. If you get stuck at an encounter, check the environment for clues and remember to use your flashlight.
There are two endings that are achieved by a single choice in the game, and the game must be played twice in order to achieve both endings.

I'm conflicted on this one. I'm not sure what the point is. Maybe that is the point. I don't know. Is this a troll game? Maybe. Is it serious? I... Maybe?? Look, this started strong and I liked the vibe it was giving off with the found-footage investigation aspect and the bulk of the game having a defined aesthetic on that front. It looks nice for the most part, though I suspect a lot of that is the video filter working overtime to carry it. It was kind of enjoyable to just wander around the beginning farm area, and while I suspect probably every single asset in the game except for the apple man was probably store-bought and repurposed, I don't really mind because the visuals are largely consistent it does come together as a nice looking package. But the actual game, I don't even know if I can write a paragraph or two about the real game progression here. Wandering around the farm at the start is essentially pointless, you just walk straight down a highway for a bit, maybe getting hit by a truck if you're feeling it, then this awful looking apple dude in a raincoat starts slowly walking behind you offering pie while you walk away at a leisurely pace and that's really already like, two-thirds of the game. You then walk into a basement and eventually die and that's it. There's an epilogue where a teenage girl(?) is watching the found footage and the apple guy walks into her house and offers her pie. You can say no and he'll just politely shut the door. Based. I guess. Admittedly pretty funny. Yes, that's all spoilers, probably. No, I don't think it matters. When it comes to content, the game's about as dense as a half-starved cat, and it's about as fun as playing with one too. There's no gameplay so to speak, which is fine, but the game isn't really engaging or funny enough to justify its own existence in spite of that. It's a shame because again, I do think the vibes are awesome in the VHS parts. It's rare to see a horror game with this much color, and I appreciated that aspect. I wouldn't recommend Dead Apples Dare, because I don't really think there's anything to realistically glean from the experience at all - but these devs (this dev?) should keep making games. They have a feel for aesthetic that I think gives them more potential than some, and I will probably try their next game. Hopefully there's a little more to it.
Personally, I love cool walking sim experiences. That's why I always love backrooms games, liminal explorers, ect. This game fits under those categories, so if you enjoy those types of games you will like this one too. Also, this game is SUPER beautiful. I grew up in an area that looked like this as a kid and OMG this game nails the look and feeling perfectly. Can't recommend this game enough.
저렴한 가격에 언리얼엔진급 그래픽으로 맛있게 게임 진행했습니다. 엔딩이 두개인데 둘다 상상하지 못한 그런 결말이라서 꼭 2가지 엔딩 전부 보시길 바랍니다.
I don't normally play horror games. I saw this on the Outer Middle Show and I was blown away with the visual style. I really liked this game. Scary, short but sweet. Best sky graphics in a computer game.
This game was very short, very much like a walking simulator. The sound design was great and did create the vibe the devs wanted. I got both the endings and they were decent. Not sure about the voice acting tho, you can tell there was AI being used for the little girl. You can look at my playthrough :) FULL PLAYTHROUGH BOTH ENDINGS: https://youtu.be/pr6uB7BeTPU?si=QAZJgW9VJVCCt-m2
The cake may be a lie but the pie was real!
I want me some apple pie
I really liked this, it's very original. It was also a lot of fun and well worth the price (Unlike a lot of other indy games) He's the video of me playing it so you can see for yourself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPR5TTrGFhw
TS sux, honestly DO NOT BUY, this was TRASH, it was NOT SCARY, and the dev's wife ♥♥♥♥♥ animals
This was a fun creepy little walking sim, There really isn't too much to say without ruining it I'd grab it on sale since it is about a 20 to 25 minute game. So if you like weird walking games that are kinda creepy I guess play this one.... or just games that you can 100% in one session to feel like a big man!
