Dark Romance: The Swan Sonata Collector's Edition

i was scrolling through the hidden object fest page when i came across the dark parables games. 10+ years ago i was very obsessed with that series specifically and so feeling pretty silly and nostalgic i thought why not just buy the dark parables bundle on steam?? but i found out that they basically doubled their prices earlier this year so that 50% off feels like an absolute joke and it pissed me off but i still needed my big fish game fix and thats how i ended up playing this quick complaints about the visuals they're okay but they don't feel particularly cohesive and they lack charm especially when compared to something like curse of briar rose (am i being biased and unfair? sure i am) the characters can look particularly jarring and unserious which i can excuse somewhat but they also look plain and boring the animals are often pretty silly too but they're cute and i love that for them (the bunnies with ribbons may be my favorite!!) now if we look past the visuals my main problem with this game is siegfried all the men here are stupid as hell. early into the game, odette sends him a letter saying Darling, Do not trust you court magician. He is conspiring against you in secret. Love, Odette but this man, her husband to be, the guy who was born a prince destined and surely prepared to become king, says What a strange note. I don't understand it. Is Rothbart trying to protect me and Odette from something? ????? and i don't mind a bit of stupidity a bit of silliness if you will we keep finding stupid notes in stupid places and im actually fine with that [spoiler] like how rothbart has a note next to a very important cabinet that reads Once upon a time a fortune teller told me this rod would kill me. But I keep it secure, and it can't do me any harm. [/spoiler] its okay its funny i can expect that kind of thing in a game like this BUT HIM NOT BEING ABLE TO READ THAT VERY FIRST LETTER???? and that being the reason why the rest of the story unfolds?? at least make him drunk or hangover or have odette's handwriting be so terrible even her lover can't decipher it. do something anything that isn't this???? it drove me insane and i can't believe that anyone would want to be with this child. also i find it quite funny that rothbart has a password that is just his name and siegfried does too! they're truly on the same level its insane why would anyone want them?? who is alana's mother??? what are these two girls fighting for?? and ferdinand isn't that much better but at least he has the magically influenced excuse i guess anyway last question i have to ask how is this dark romance??? its pretty traditional fairy tale stuff and even if you take dark romance as two separate words and not the actual subgenre its not that dark?? its not dark at all??? its just Romance with comically evil villains. i don't recommend this unless its on sale and you're feeling particularly silly

Would have liked it better if those mini-games were not so annoying! Took away the fun.
