"DALDZAH" is a poorly made third person adventure game with particularly bad illustrations and MS-Paint tier textures slathered on low poly environments. At least it seems to be genuinely made? Unfortunately, genuine intentions alone aren't sufficient to provide an excellent gaming experience. This third person game has you running around the north causases to solve some issues for some folklore gods or something. I can see why the folklore never caught on as much as the greek/hellenic/norse/english stuff did. But the poor quality of the game is really what breaks this one. In terms of visuals, this features fairly low quality low poly 3D visuals with the aformentioned MS-Paint textures, which will deter a lot of gamers, understandably. Gaming is a visual medium, and while some developers struggle with creating high quality visuals, failing to do so is a disservice to gamers. It's very difficult to recommend bad looking games. Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 2 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Not this time. This isn't worth downloading. While this won't cost you any money, you get what you pay for, and sometimes, even when the game is free, it's still not enough.
This game has a beautiful handmade art that adds comfort to the gaming experience. The backstory unfolds as you progress, although the text speed can sometimes be too fast to actually be able to read it completly. The music enhances immersion, making you feel more connected to the chapter (eventho, in the third chapter, the bees' volume may be overly loud). While it's likened to exploration games like "Journey," it's more linear, with limited exploration options and potential for getting stuck if you actually try to explore outside of the path. Despite some bugs, it shows it's a nice game with a calming atmosphere and engaging story.
This is a poor man's short version of games like Journey, GRIS, RiME or AER Memories of Old so if you enjoy those types of games this is for you. There's frequent but short overlaying cut scenes that can keep you from seeing while moving so I recommend stopping in place and actually taking them in before proceeding.
