Dagon is a 3D narrative experience in madness based on the cult short story of the same title by the master of cosmic horror and weird fiction, H. P. Lovecraft himself. It’s an interactive portal into the world of the controversial genius and his highly acclaimed Cthulhu Mythos, open to both newcomers and long-time devotees.

The change happened whilst I slept.

Dagon is a great example of how a short interactive experience can still leave an impression. The atmosphere is fantastic, capturing the unsettling feeling of Lovecraft’s work while still being accessible even if you’re not familiar with the original story. The presentation, narration, and style all come together to create a genuinely eerie experience. A beautifully made adaptation that shows you don’t need a long runtime to create something memorable.
Knowing little about Lovecraft, this was a enjoyable and informative 30-minute horror story. The story itself is interspersed with interesting information about Lovecraft, including several quote on a variety of topics. For low price of free, you can't go wrong. If you hate jump scares, you won't find them here. Just existential terror.
Consigliato! 👍 Dagon is a tiny, precious gem of cosmic horror. And it's completely free. In about thirty or forty minutes, this utterly faithful adaptation of Lovecraft's story drags you into the morphine-addled mind of a naval officer, translates madness into a point-and-click adventure, and succeeds where so many AAA titles fail: it makes you feel how utterly irrelevant human beings are, a speck of dust before the prestige of abyssal creatures that don't even acknowledge us. The atmosphere is artisanal and crafted with immense care. It's like listening to a musician play a guitar and letting you hear the wood and the strings tighten; except here, it's your nerves that are being stretched. The electronic soundtrack weaves real recorded sounds (sea, bells) with deep reverbs and synthetic violins and cellos, generating a constant sense of disorientation that clings to you. The additional notes, available at any time or during a quick second run, are a gift for Lovecraft lovers: they don't distract, they deepen your interest in the original work and show just how commendable Bit Golem's research was. It's free, it lasts as long as an episode of a TV series, and it leaves you with the unpleasant sensation of being tiny under a black sky full of things you shouldn't see. It also supports VR (update already planned), and if you want to thank the developers, there's a $5 DLC with an audiobook and ebook. But first, please: go to the store page, hit "Play Game" and live this journey into madness. You have no excuses. Recommended! 👍
Rating: 9.3/10 Dagon: by H.P. Lovecraft is a free narrative horror experience that faithfully adapts one of Lovecraft's most iconic short stories into an immersive interactive adventure. Rather than relying on jump scares, the game builds an unsettling atmosphere through excellent narration, environmental storytelling, and psychological horror. It's a must-play for fans of cosmic horror and story-driven experiences.
