It's not a movie... it's not a game... it's both. A new kind of interactive thriller that puts you in the heart of the story.
Genre
Ein Hacking FMV Adventure
Story

Follow Main group
Follow Second group
textbook example of how not to make an fmv game. while a large portion is still accessible, including all the videos, it relies on external websites that don't exist anymore. came out in 2018, great long-term support despite their promise to keep it available 'for a long time'. it was removed from sale in april 2023 (without a word of warning, of course), and it's obviously my fault for not playing it sooner because I'm not a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mindreader, nor can I see into the future. there's an archive website with the videos and volume settings (something that can't be said about the game), including a nearly 2-hour full playthrough, sadly only with the dev yapping constantly, no 'clean' version. the websites are still somewhat explorable as well. cloakchat doesn't work, for example, nor do I think the email ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ can be reproduced. why weren't these, done properly, part of the installed game to begin with, or added before they made the game mostly unplayable? ♥♥♥♥♥♥ practices like this should be illegal, just provide all necessary content locally, fake emails and all. hard drive space isn't an issue, lazy devs cutting corners and not paying for hosting is. and speaking of lazy, no manual saving, nor any indication of saving, but it seems to happen constantly, so there's that. oh, and no subtitles, yet another broken promise. there are a bunch of jumpscares too, as you're working with a possessed computer. also, while I'm not an achievement person, it was amusing to read they didn't add them because the game is non-linear. what does that have to do with anything? incompetence and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ excuses galore.
A covered up murder mystery between two BFFs and you get to play the detecive. It all starts with an introduction video which plays like a trailer or kickstart video. Then off you go with the external HD with all the files (photo's, documents, video footage, etc). Time to solve the case. It's a very creative experience that immerses the player. I was actually playing the part the devs would want me to play and eagerly awaiting the story to unravel. And it is creepy... The acting is solid, the video footage and documents aren't too "long" which is a big plus. And you even need to visit certain websites to solve some puzzles. Everything seems to have an explanation with a great eye for detail. Companies, people, documents and photos all feel authentic. A great experience if you like FMV, detective, horror, or point and click games. Too bad it's a bit short, but overall highly recommended!
Final Verdict: Buy or find it on your Steam library mysteriously! Either way!
This is a pretty cool alternate reality game. There's nothing too obtrusive here. It does ask for your e-mail at a point late in the game, but it is completely optional. I did not give an e-mail and feel that I have not lost out on anything. So I did find the investigation to be challenging and fun. It kind of feels like you're inside a horror movie. Yeah, it's a little on the cheesy / campy side, but it's the good kind. It's not cringe playing this at all. I was always excited to try and crack the case and looking forward to what would happen next. The good news is that there is a very good hint system available. So if you're stuck, you can always just look up the hint system from within the game. Lastly, I have no idea how I got this game. Did I get it from a bundle or did it just show up on my Steam library? Kind of scary when I think about it. Oh well. Rate 8/10. My computer is acting kind of funny now. Hahahaha.
How does only such a small number of people know about this game?! This is an indie gem - big, shiny, and sparkling. With it's B-Movie horror elements, and down-the-rabbit-hole aesthetic, you can easily spend an afternoon/evening delving into the secrets of the Chinese-run conglomerate GUI Microsystems. Definitely fell under the radar: deserving of a bigger audience. The ARG genre is one to celebrate! P.S: Love the authentic look of the documents included. Thank you for taking this extra step. It really adds to the atmosphere
Daemon_9 was well worth the wait. Figuring out things weren't too difficult but made you feel good. The acting, The atmosphere. I cannot stress enough to anyone reading this, that this is a must have, and please support any and all dev's who put this much love and dedication into such amazing works. Much love and respect to everyone who worked on this.
My Score: 6/10 Interesting concept and great opening scene. Unfortunately, it became too difficult and technical to figure our the puzzle. Jumping back and forth between
the game window and browser
was time consuming. It was a good attempt, but could have been a bit easier with more guidance I guess.
Einfach selbst spielen!
One of the coolest ARG experiences I have ever experienced. Never heard of this game before. Saw it was 5 dollars and tried it. Wow, I would easily paid $20 bucks for this. It's not a game, it's an EXPERIENCE.
Take the N word OUT of the game. It is uncalled for and disrespectful. On a different note, I was streaming this and just reading through the articles out loud and luckily I read ahead but this can get people in trouble for no reason.
