DACHstudio Jigsaw Puzzle Box

8/10 Artistic jigsaw puzzle TLDR: a tastefully designed jigsaw puzzle. It could still be improved in a few minor aspects, yet it's one of the best ones you can get for free. DLCs may be worth getting at a discount. Good: + free (24 pictures) + very pleasant relaxing music tracks + tasteful artistic UI design + beautifuc pictures coming from a dozen different artists + lots of options and generally comfortable controls So-so: +/- you can rotate a piece with the mouse wheel while dragging the piece with the left mouse button (which is great for playing with one hand), but the rotation jumps over straight angles (0, 90, 180, 270 degrees). Instead, it would be like 80 degrees and then instantly 100. So, you end up placing pieces without clearly seeing if they fit. The margin of error is enough though, so they do get placed. But it's still annoying. Actually, I'm not even sure if this gradual rotation is needed at all. I'd prefer just instant or very fast 90-degree twists (maybe with QE buttons - atm they rotate gradually while pressed) +/- slow mouse wheel scrolling of lists (a common bug in many games made with Unity) +/- I'd prefer the pieces to be placed more spaciously at start, without overlaps. But it seems that all jigsaw puzzle games just pile them all randomly. Moreover, there is a "shuffle" button that forces them into messy piles again! What's the point in wasting time just dragging pieces around to see what they are? +/- confusing starting menu. Took me a while to understand that it's artist-specific packs, and that each of them has 2 pics that are playable (as demo) and 10 more that are DLC-locked Bad: - nothing Tbh I'm not sure that $3 per pack of 10 images is a realistic price even if they're hand-drawn. On the other hand, Steam has taught us all to wait for sales. Also the game's banner is not descriptive enough. The carton box and the room in the background have zero relation to jigsaw puzzles, and the title is barely readable. This might explain why the app only has 75 reviews in almost 2 years (and it's free!). It definitely deserved more attention. Dunno, maybe even rename it to "Jigsaw Puzzle Box by DACHStudio" or even just "Jigsaw Puzzle Box" cuz this "DACHstudio" thing is a letter salad to someone who doesn't know German ("Dach" = roof).
