A very tentative thumbs up, not because I liked this game very much or would particularly go out of my way to recommend it, but because I think it showed the bones of good development from the creators. This being said, if this studio were to work on another game in the future with more time, budget, etc., I think they could produce something good. However, when it came to this game, the brevity is a blessing. The puzzles don't require much puzzling, however, and it's okay-ish as a stealth game. The graphics were nice - I enjoyed the artstyle and animations. The journals were well written, but the voice acting for dialogue left much to be desired. I was fine playing through once, but after an hour or a bit less I just continued to get the achievements. Glad I got it on sale.
Enjoyable, plus you can pet a cat:)
The graphics are nice, but the rest is pretty bland. As a stealth action game, there's just zero tension.
Króciutka, lekko drewniana, aczkolwiek ładna gierka. Idealna na jeden wieczór, ale czy warta 40zł? Wziąłem na promocji i nie żałuję, miło spędzone 3h.
Solid cute little story! Loved all of it. Only real issue I had was my camera kept getting stuck in the wall, but still a pretty great game!
Cynthia: Hidden in the Moonshadow is a story-driven stealth adventure developed and published by Catthia Games that wears its inspirations lightly while carving out a gentle, introspective identity of its own. From the opening moments, the game establishes a contemplative tone, inviting players into the lush Tesana Valley not as conquerors or warriors, but as observers navigating a world wounded by darkness. Rather than overwhelming the player with spectacle, it leans into atmosphere and intention, framing its journey as a personal quest shaped by loss, resolve, and quiet determination. The narrative follows Cynthia Stranborg, a Moonshadow Huntress who returns home only to find her village and loved ones gone, replaced by an ominous presence creeping across the land. The story unfolds gradually through exploration, environmental cues, and short narrative beats rather than lengthy exposition. This restrained approach allows the emotional core to breathe, emphasizing Cynthia’s motivation without overexplaining it. The central objective—recovering fragments of an artifact to strengthen her bow and confront the encroaching darkness—provides a clear throughline that ties story progression directly to gameplay mechanics. Gameplay centers on a careful blend of stealth, traversal, and light puzzle-solving. Cynthia’s bow is the cornerstone of interaction, functioning as both a defensive tool and a means of manipulating the environment. Players can fire arrows to activate switches, distract enemies, or create opportunities to slip past patrols unseen. Stealth encounters are intentionally measured, encouraging patience and observation over reflexes. Hiding in tall grass, using cover intelligently, and planning routes through enemy territory reinforces the game’s slower, more thoughtful pace, making each successful evasion feel earned rather than incidental. Exploration plays an equally important role, with Tesana Valley presented as a series of interconnected areas filled with ruins, forests, and hidden paths. Movement mechanics such as climbing, ziplines, and careful platforming are woven naturally into level design, keeping traversal engaging without turning it into a test of dexterity. Puzzles tend to favor accessibility over complexity, focusing on environmental logic and spatial awareness rather than abstract problem-solving. While rarely difficult, they serve as effective pacing tools that break up stealth segments and encourage players to pay attention to their surroundings. Visually, Cynthia: Hidden in the Moonshadow embraces a stylized aesthetic that prioritizes mood and clarity over technical realism. The environments are colorful and inviting, with soft lighting and painterly textures that give the world a storybook quality. Character models and animations are simple, occasionally showing the limitations of an indie production, but the overall art direction is cohesive and expressive. The visual language supports the narrative’s emotional tone, making the valley feel alive even in its moments of quiet desolation. Sound design further reinforces the atmosphere, with subtle ambient audio and a restrained musical score that underscores exploration and tension without dominating the experience. Silence is used effectively, particularly during stealth sequences, allowing the rustle of grass or distant enemy movement to heighten awareness. When music does surface, it tends to be understated and melodic, reinforcing the game’s reflective nature rather than pushing urgency. In terms of pacing, the game is concise and deliberately so. It offers a focused experience that can be completed in a relatively short span, but that brevity works in its favor by preventing fatigue. While some players may wish for deeper systems or more elaborate stealth mechanics, the streamlined design ensures that nothing overstays its welcome. Minor technical roughness and occasional clarity issues in objectives can surface, but these moments rarely overshadow the overall experience. Ultimately, Cynthia: Hidden in the Moonshadow succeeds through sincerity rather than ambition. It does not attempt to rival large-budget stealth adventures in scale or complexity, instead delivering a carefully crafted journey that values atmosphere, intention, and emotional grounding. For players who appreciate quieter adventures built around exploration, environmental interaction, and gentle stealth, it offers a memorable and heartfelt experience that lingers not because of spectacle, but because of the care woven into every step of the journey. Rating: 7/10
One of the games of all time. Short, extremely repetitive gameplay. Just not my cup of tea and personally wouldn't recommend to anyone.
Little, cute game with a fashion spark. Perfect for working people looking for some nice adventure for one afternoon ;)
This is a good first attempt at a game from an amateur or very small team, but I can't recommend it. The art is pleasant, the voice acting and script is amateur (but forgivable), but the gameplay is just annoying. This might have been much better with some more play testing because there's a lot of frustrating elements that should have been ironed out. Unskippable dialog. Camera clipping issues. You can jump, but there are knee-high fences that you can't get over yet there are some environment navigation sections that require you to jump up taller rocks. It's too hand holdy and obtrusive in the introduction and then other sections that would stump you you're on your own. I'm also not a fan of instant fail stealth gameplay and that's all this is.
