CV Maker is a cool program really, with plenty of layouts, options to construct a CV in a style that you prefer or simply represents you in a CV. It's made in a way that it can generate most of your CV through your Linkedin, which you can afterwards change, add or remove stuff manually. However, the program lacks one fundamental feature that is a must for a CV to be good, and that is the ability to add a picture of yourself. I was a bit dissapointed discovering this feature, hence I couldn't really use the CV I made for anything really, as I want a good CV, not just a decent CV. To be fair due to the lack of that fundamental feature, you could've found CV coversheets where you can easily fill in your information, add picture etc. online, instead of spending money on this program which does give you a lot of simplified features etc, dont get me wrong, but a photo is almost a certain most for a CV, really. EDIT 1: There has been disagreement and agreement in the comment section whether or not a picture should be on a CV. Personally, I was told so by my previous employers, friends, family and lawyers from my mothers workplace. In Denmark, where I was at that time, a picture was much appreciated, and I even heard of places, where they would even disregard your CV if it did not include a picture. I am well aware however, that it might be the opposite case at different places, countries, states and what not. Be aware of this.
CV Maker without an ability to attach your own photo. What madness is this? Concept is good, but a simple thing like that ruins the whole picture. What a shame.
I have to say I've actually utilised this program and its worked beautifully. I've created several resumes for different purposes quickly with tips and tricks to make them look professional. They also help wtih cover letters which I'm fairly clueless on, and ensure it links with your CV. My two negatives for this is that it does assume you are in USA and thus only provide options for universities/degrees over there (which you can get around by manually putting in your info). The second issue is that there is no backup/cloud that I can find so I lost all my resumes/cover letters when I reinstalled Windows.
Fails to start, brings up a debug log. My PC is up to date and well maintained. Support sent me a download link with the same issue. Whatever the case. The whole process from install to admitting defeat on it has dragged on way too long. I would not recommend
basic program cant load library? Broken software
Siehe Diskussions-Forum! Coole Idee - mäßige Umsetzung und preislich überzogen.
Quality little program, I always used microsoft word or cv makers online for this purpose, but since the former went to subscription i had to look for somethnig else. I like this because it is in steam, which means for a one off payment i can have this software whenever i need to redo my CV. It sorts out all the silly tabs and formatting BS that you have to spend hours setting up each and everytime you update or change fonts etc. you can do cover letters, add sections, and has loads of style templates. For a tenner, its good to have in your steam account.
The tool is very limited. Some advice is useful if this is your first CV (including the Q&A about the interviews) but a word processor and a random website for advice will provide you with the same service... The word templates are also really classics. I am a bit disappointed : /
Works really well, easy to use and makes a good looking CV (quickly) ;). Worth the money!
Don't buy this app, it's very bad, the whole app is bugs, you can't make a normal CV
