Curatours is proud to offer a permanent virtual home for the exhibit, and showcase an exciting step for the Museum of Colour in their mission to open up new avenues for accessibility, inclusivity, and the preservation of cultural heritage in an increasingly digital world.
Museum of Plastic 2121

Visit a future where single use plastics are only ever found in museums.
Museum of Plastic 2121 is an imagined future museum, built to teach future generations about plastics and tell the story of how activism started in 2021 led to the positive change that resulted in us cleaning up our oceans and forever changing our relationship with plastic.
Taking inspiration from the Solarpunk movement, Curatours worked closely with South African activists Greenpop and Baz-Art, utlising some of their real world murals and 3D paintings.
Built 100 years from now in an imagined future where things have worked out well for both the planet and humanity, the exhibit is perfectly at home on the Curatours platform which isn’t constrained by time or space.

It's an okay virtual museum tour. It currently has a wing about plastics and how they effect the environment. Other wings are planned. It does ask for registration information, but you can put fake info so it's NBD. You have teleportation and snap turning available. The museum includes low poly environments with some exhibits which range from audio tidbits, 2D video, 360 videos, texts, & then the actual exhibits. You can experience solo or multiplayer USA or Europe.
👑 Powered by HoI 4 Deu Curators group in German / English 👑

 Follow Main group
 Follow Second group
English: -----------------------------------> Curatours Museum of Plastic 2121 from Cooperative Innovations, who already gave us the somewhat chaotic party game Spaceteam VR, are now coming around the corner with a very serious topic. As part of Curatours, they want to enable virtual tours through museums and galleries. The aforementioned Museum of Plastic 2121 kicks things off. This joint project by various artists, institutes and organizers is intended to provide a glimpse of the future in which disposable plastic can only be admired in museums. Of course, a museum exhibition also includes a look into the past, i.e. the history of plastic and its benefits for mankind, with all its dangers. In the museum the visitor can choose which of the total and meanwhile 4 wings he would like to visit first. The world of plastic is divided into an area about the environment and plastic, one area informs about the industrial importance of plastic another about the scientific aspect and of course there is also an area about the history of plastic. The great thing about this mueum is how we as visitors can spend time in it. There is the possibility to discover everything on your own, a guided tour with virtual guide and very special are live tours accompanied by an expert. Here you can even ask questions. Unfortunately, I didn't get a live tour and strolled through the individual wings on my own. Or rather teleported. The controls are simple and perfectly adequate for a museum visit. The graphics are good, photos are high-resolution and the 360° videos are of good quality. However, visitors should be able to understand English well, both written and spoken, otherwise they won't get the interesting facts and visions. Because "The whole idea of the Museum of Plastic is to (...) show visitors a way to a better future by bringing a future museum to life," according to the initiators of this great program. We are not in the current timeline, but 100 years in the future, in the year 2121, hence the name of this tour. We learn how mankind is gradually abandoning the unspeakable fossil materials. We learn how a future world of plastics looks like and what has to be done or is already being done. In the individual thematic flights we can then read or have read aloud by a pleasant voice display boards, watch some videos and look at and also touch objects. The artists who took part in this project controlled their own walk-through and impressive VR paintings for each of the areas. Despite the currently rather gloomy forecasts concerning our environment, a visit to the Muesum of Plastic makes optimistic that mankind can still turn the tide. Cooperative Innovations worked with the South African environmental organization Greenpop Foundation, the street art organization Baz-Art and the University of Hull, and was supported by the British Council as part of the Creative Commissions program. For me, the Museum of Plastic is very informative and educational, especially because of the positive predictions for the future. That this museum visit costs nothing and the next lockdown due to Corona is probably already waiting for us, this is a great idea to spend the next quarantine. It is worth it! 👀Night at the Museum with my curator page. 👑 Powered by HoI 4 Deu Curators group in German / English 👑

 Follow Main group
 Follow Second group
Curatours is a free VR experience that is virtual museums. It worked on my HTC Vive and Index system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok, was understandable. The only museum that is open right now in Curatours is Museum of Plastic 2121. You can also play this using monitor with mouse and keyboard. There is a multi-player mode, where you can have bodies, moving arms, emotes, voice chat, with other players on a server, or you can play solo mode. They have 2 servers running. You can mute other players voices. The Museum of Plastic 2121 is a semi informative museum about Plastic and it's effects on the environment. Some of content is fictional because they are presenting ideas about how to remove plastics from the ocean and what might happen if we don't do something about this problem with a timeline of now to 2121. Has pictures, video, textual cards, narration with transcripts, 3D video, and 3D artworks. Cons: - Does Not work with Valve Index, missing binding filled out for Index, tried a community binding that worked, somewhat. - Not seeing other people visiting this game. Once you seen the one museum, not much else to do here. - Looks like this was developed for Oculus. - The text of many narrations are not complete. Try this VR experience, if you are looking for a museum to visit.
I visited the Museum of Plastic and found it really interesting. I used the desktop version instead of VR but that didn't take away from the experience. Only two parts of the museum are open at the moment so it's not a whole experience just yet... I will probably come back in December once the Industry and Science wings are open too. I think this would be great in schools or museums for helping teach kids about plastic and the environment. I took a look at their website and it looks like they'll be adding more museums and content in the future too. Also it's free and i'm a big fan of free stuff
After the updates a great VR exprience with several different museums.
What a great way to create museum exhibitions. This really make the usual "boring" museum experience very exciting. I wish there were more languages for the audio though, e.g. german.
