Cubon is a casual platform and puzzle game where you have to find your place in the world. Jump, open doors, and find your way through each level. But watch out! Everywhere you go, you'll leave a trace behind you, making it impossible for you to go back to the same place again.

This game is frustrating because of the bad camera and slippery controls. Visuals aren't particularly exciting. They are really minimalistic and use blocks for everything. The majority of it is gray or white, with significant objects like switches and movable walls or platforms being black. Despite its appearance, the game is a basic platformer in which the jump is the most commonly used ability. Precision is required because the platforms are small and you must be almost over the edge to make the jump on the other side. One bothersome feature is that the cube slips somewhat when it lands, making it very easy to fall off those small platforms. This is a huge problem because you have to move quickly and precisely due to timed switches. And if that’s not enough, you need to time your moves with lava bursting out. However, the core mechanic is a lethal trail that you leave behind. The trail is so close that you can't even jump on the spot. Any contact will immediately kill you and restart the stage. The idea is to travel in such a way that you leave enough room for your return trip, as stages frequently need you to go hit a switch and then return the same way. Fortunately, stages contain checkpoints, so you don't have to finish them all in one go. There are only 12 stages, but they’re no walk in the park. Also, you have two different abilities. With the first, you create a temporary safe zone that eliminates a lethal trail. It's advisable to use it in areas where you're likely to return. Both abilities consume the entire energy bar, which recharges with each movement, but with so little open space, it can be difficult to fully recharge it. The gamepad is partially supported. You can jump and move around, but none of the ability buttons seem to work. Playing platformers with a keyboard feels awkward, but at least it works. Another major issue is terrible camera, which occurs in many platformers. It turns very slowly and cannot be moved up or down. If you have a tall structure in front of you, you will be unable to see where you are going. Mouse is not supported, so camera is moved with two other keys.
Really fun game even though it is not that long. The camera is sometime your enemy but the game is challenging and requires you to learn from each try until you find the right path (and you execute it properly). The atmosphere is soothing and the visuals quite pleasant in their simplicity. I had fun !
Très bon petit jeu de plateforme basé sur le principe "essai erreur". Good little platform game based on the "trial and error" principle.
