This is the kind of game you'd find on Newgrounds in 2006, it may look good but it's really not that great in execution. Thankfully it didnt run much so I wont bash it too much but i'd find something else.
ENG: Azura, guardian goddess of the Emerald Grove and protagonist of Crystal Goddess, is having a bad day: after a long day guarding the forest, not only does her cat, Mr. Snuggles, not even bother to wash her back, but she can't even find her favorite bath sponge. On top of that, Violet Vixen, the self-proclaimed true goddess of the realm, appears unannounced in her home and steals her sacred crystals. With their power, the overgrown evil goddess will have the realm at her feet and reign supreme. Forgoing her bath, Azura must quickly chase her across the 5 worlds of the kingdom to recover the 4 crystals before it's too late. This Otterside Games' first title, and testing ground for what will be their much more refined and interesting second work, it's a cute little platformer whose erotic component, while cute, is negligible, as is the soundtrack, which is catchy enough but very repetitive. The gameplay is also cute and simple, and relies on the mechanic of swapping your equipped crystals, once you've collected them, to overcome the various obstacles and less varied enemies in your path. Reactive and appropriately responsive, the use of a controller is practically mandatory anyway to play, given that the controls, including the keyboard ones, are not customizable. There are two game difficulties available, normal and hard, although you'll always have only one life bar with infinite continues, and three single games slot with automatic saving of your progress and collected collectibles. Each world is divided into numerous stages (about ninety, considering all the worlds) and has 5 checkpoints, the first of which is often quite far ahead, from which you can resume later if you interrupt the game. Additionally, each world includes 3 thirds of a heart, which once completed will increase Azura's total health, 2 stars to enhance the crystals' attack, and 1 collectible card that unlocks an image in the gallery. At the end, you'll face the world's boss, who possesses a crystal and another gallery card. The NSFW aspect, which is completely marginal and can even be disabled in the options, is made up of the 10 spicy images in the gallery, the skimpy outfit of the protagonist and the pixel art "skits", which constitute the sprite to hit, concerning the damsels to be saved to obtain life or power-ups during the game. Without praise or infamy, the title has nothing really wrong with it, but it makes very little effort and, as an NSFW game, it's practically worthless. But if you approach it calmly and without pretensions, quickly switching between the various crystals when necessary, it can even be fun. In its small way, for the little it costs, in the end I didn't have a bad experience and it's worth picking up, even if there are undoubtedly way better ones on the market. It should be noted that the game, in addition to not being free of errors despite the little text present, also lacks the Steam Cloud saves functionality.
Personal note: for what it's worth, Azura is the best girl in my opinion, followed by Violet Vixen and the Crimson Mistress, who, at least for my playstyle, is probably also the hardest boss to beat, with the friendly girls to be saved as honorable mentions.
Going to give this game thumbs up with a few caveats. Most of the negative reviews are because the game is buggy on mouse and keyboard. I played it fine with a PS4 controller. It was very responsive. Most people say controllers work fine. Gameplay wise, it's fine. Game takes about 2 hours to beat on normal. Not sure for hard mode, and since I don't think it unlocks anything, I'm not going to go find out unless there is an update with more content. It's a basic Megaman styled platformer. I got excited about being able to upgrade my abilities, but it just ups your damage per shot. That's good, but doesn't change up the gameplay any. The reason to buy this game at all is because it's a non visual novel H game. But to be honest, the H content is fairly lacking. The sprite work is great, and I would have appreciated it if they had used it more. The gallery you unlock is just poorly drawn still images of random characters. I'd have honestly preferred if they weren't in the game as they lower it's overall quality. Would have been better if you collected the animations of the girls you save throughout the level. If you want to see those again, you'll have to play through the levels again. There are 5-7 different ones and they look pretty good. Just loops of the character and a couple of the bosses idle animations would have been great. There is no real end game H reward either. The music is there. A couple of the songs are kinda catchy, but the rest are fine. Only reason I bring this up I've played at least one H games with an unlistenable soundtrack.
It's pretty decent, it plays kind of like megaman. The lewd arts aren't the greatest, but I liked it more for the gameplay than lewd stuff.
Very bad level design,
Great game. Not too difficult and not too easy. It was nice having to use different abilities in order to progress through certain levels, especially towards the end. If the levitate ability hadn't been in the game I would have struggled with some of the jumping parts a lot. I played with a controller and I never felt like the controls made me lose, but rather my own mistakes. Could have used some more sex animations, but it's alright. A sure buy if you love platformers like I do.
