About

Crystal Gaiden Origins is a side-scrolling action platformer with a bold 8-bit aesthetic, pulsing chiptunes, and razor-sharp gameplay.
Play as a rogue warrior fighting through burning cities, buried ruins, high-tech research facilities, and an active orbital elevator primed to unleash a doomsday weapon — all in a collapsing sci-fi world.
Tear through rebel strongholds with advanced weaponry, and strike down your former brothers in the imperial army using forbidden powers buried in the past — all while uncovering a conspiracy that threatens the one you love. Trigger a berserk system that boosts your strength at the cost of your own health — every strike a sacrifice to bring her back.
A tribute to the 80s–90s era of NES action platformers — from Ninja Gaiden and Shatterhand to Castlevania and Shadow of the Ninja.

Crystal Gaiden Origins is a well made, retro side scrolling action game for the most part. However I can't recommend it for two fatal and infuriating flaws. your attack itself and collision. The attack of the character is too slow and inconsistent in landing attacks! some enemies you actual have to walk towards a pixel while pressing attack in order to deal damage, not all of them thank god, but it's still stupid to think that's acceptable. Play games like the game tries to emulate. you'll notice the collision is perfect and the attack speeds meet with the design of the game, and frankly quite satisfying..You don't get that here. You'll get hit no matter what and attack while nothing happens to the enemy and it's rage inducing. I like the look, feel, music and control of the game. Those are done proper, however the collision sucks and as well as your attack speed. you'll get more attacks with your knife playing a game of "Rush 'n' Attack"! The problems listed are shown perfectly in level 6-2 on hard, when you have to deal with laser turrets that are in your way of platforming. More often than not you have to sacrifice health to move ahead. that's not right. you almost had it, but alas the very thing you must do was a massive oversight and I can only hope you'll correct that in an update, but you probably won't. Shame.
Eng ver below. Alright, I've changed my mind. The v 1.3 update made it much easier to pass the Expert difficulty. Before that, I spent 10 hours on 4th stage Boss, but now I defeated her on my 1st try. I still consider her the most difficult, the most broken and random, but thanks to the Shield, he can at least really be defeated (But there is no shield in Boss Rush, so we suffer). I still consider it impossible to speedrun the 2nd stage (it's also called Time trial) in 2:30 minutes, because with perfect completion of stage 2-1 (it doesn't work faster than 99 seconds, and the character's movement speed is limited by the speed of the camera), 50 seconds remain at stages 2-2 and 2-3, which is nonsense. Otherwise, it's a nice game, especially if you're no going to complete it on 100%. There are a lot of casual walkthroughs on YouTube that don't reveal the mechanics of the game, which is why I had to test everything myself. The main complaint from ordinary players is that I'm dead, there are no weapons, and I won't be able to defeat the boss. But we are the weapon itself, because we can buff our damage with Rage, but we also increase the passing damage by ourselves (Life hack: you can spam a punch without Rage until the HP bar stops flashing, that is, the damage penalty can be reset).
good

********************************************************************************** This game was granted to me through Daredrop. Thanks to them and the developers, we can enjoy this title. Please visit the site: daredrop ************************************************************************************* Very interesting; it reminds you of the old arcade games where we spent all our free time in the 80s and 90s. For more experienced players, it will surely be a breeze. I'm not used to just using the keyboard, and it's a little complicated for me, but it's nothing insurmountable, although I would like to be able to use the mouse for attacks and special moves as well. Even the easy difficulty levels are hard for me xD and I don't even want to tell you what it's like on the slightly harder mode (I haven't been able to try the ultra-hard mode because it's still locked). The game is original, the music is perhaps a bit repetitive—I don't know if it's the same on all levels—but on the other hand, I really like the graphics, and the difficulty keeps you hooked and wanting to try again until you find the exact way to defeat the darn boss. Plus, it has Steam achievements, which I love, and it's translated into Spanish, which I'm incredibly grateful for. It has configuration options, though. I did have to stream it in full screen with OBS; it doesn't work well as a window or game. I recommend it for a good while of gameplay!
Harking back to smokey, dank, arcades Crystal Gaiden Origins does exactly what it sets out to do: replicate the 8-bit style extremely close to it's source material. Banger soundtrack, controls well except for the slide being a bit janky, two visual styles to emulate the retro style or keep it more modern, and a bunch of goons to kill.
