This game is about as indie as it gets and while that means it's a little rough around the edges, it also means there's some genuine charm to it. There's three main phases to the game play; an enemy avoiding phase, a beat 'em up phase and a bonus wack-a-mole style phase. There's also another couple of game modes, one of which is a harder version of the avoidance rounds with the other modes cut out and no way to earn any extra lives. The final mode I have yet to try as I haven't beaten the main game which is how you unlock it. The pixel art is the highlight here for me and it gets a thumbs up for that.
The graphics and story are very cute (I won't spoil the plot). The gameplay offers a great puzzle adventure, and I appreciate that you can replay the game countless times with each playthrough being different due to the enemy AI and the destructible environments. There are also bonus modes that offer varied gameplay experiences. If you are looking for a surprisingly fun game, this one is worth your immediate purchase! Highly recommended!
"Crown Jewelz" is a side scroller arcade game. You are a warrior on a mission to retrieve the Queen's stolen jewels. Time to put on your armor and veture into another realm to help your kingdom! It will feel amazing beating up your enemies and escaping their attacks. With a variety of puzzles, minigames and bosses, this game will keep you engaged with it's action sequence, fun levels, interesting attacks and attack patterns! Funny moments couldn't be absent either! What I like mostly about this game is the wonderful mix of different game styles. Side scroller punches and action mingles with maze-like enviromental hazards as you try to avoid enemy attacks. Using objects around you to protect, block or attack your enemies makes the world feel alive and real since a danger is a problem for all and not just the player! The mini games break the action pace and let you relax a bit before you continue your mission. There are gems everywhere! And who can say no to pretty sparkling gems?.. ^^ Collect them all, survive and beat the enemy. Make the top score and return triumphally to your realm and Queen! Take on the role of the ultimate warrior in this fast paced and entertaining game that will test your reflexes and wits with it's charming yet complex levels and mechanics. The price is too high, get it on a sale. For more reviews, follow my curator https://store.steampowered.com/curator/44864435-Mewesome-Reviews/
I don't think this is exactly my kind of game which isn't a bad thing, I still enjoyed trying and failing miserably to win. Would have loved an easy (or extremely easy) setting so I could experience the story and ending since the game is too hard for a noob like me. Or at least give me infinite lives (plus maybe also spawn me exactly where I die so I can say I completed the game). I would have also loved to get some speed buffs, level my attributes and things like that, more fighting stages (I loved the one and only I manage to get to), more of those mini-game stages as well. The trailer looks really good, but I wasn't able to some cool levels I'm seeing there. Also the main character would look so much better with an interesting design, not just.. a naked woman (that's the biggest con of this game for me, I just can't take her seriously or like her, she doesn't look much like a cool fighter to me). I really liked the game mechanics, using the pigs to smash rocks for you. The music is also my cup of tea, fits the game well. Another way you could make the game better would be to just fit the screen without me having to do so manually. I'd also move the default for the screenshot button somewhere else, I can't tell you how many times I pressed space instead of enter.
