I don't think I have ever seen a single other player online. It may seem counter intuitive, but I will recommend this game, if only to attract another player to join me. Don't get me wrong, the game looks pretty good, but without other players, it's difficult to navigate in the tight spots between islands, and forget about loading and aiming a canon.
if you're a fan of history and especially the history of Buccaneers in the Carribean you probably would have heard of Captain Long ♥♥♥♥ Rambo who was a Privateer at first but when the Throne outlawed them become one of the most swashbuckling pirates that ever sailed the seven seas. Video review: https://youtu.be/G-y3tfBYejo He was called Long ♥♥♥♥ due to the gossip from the many lasses and wenches he conquered when in port. Some said he had a third leg and it was as hard as wood when the wind was right. He sunk many a Spanish treasure galleon with his third leg it was said, as a ceremonial celebration he would unleash the beast after plundering the treasure and it would make a hole in the hull the size of 10 cannonballs with it sending the ship and crew into Davy Jones locker. And by Davy Jones locker we don't mean the bum of one of the members of the 60's manufactured pop group the Monkeys. After two decades of setting the trade routes a light they finally got old Captain Long ♥♥♥♥ Rambo when his parrot finally had had enough of his continued philandering and dobbed him into the Queens Navy. It is said that he was taken to the Tower of London where the Queen herself had a few nights of pleasure before having Long ♥♥♥♥ Rambo hung and quartered and it is said that the Queen kept a special part of Long ♥♥♥♥ Rambo mummified and it was kept in the Queen's bedroom in a diamond-encrusted gold trunk for those special times.
I agree with smoother turning but overall the game is a lot of fun and has a huge potenial. I love Sea of Theives and this is pretty. Overall I give it a 3.5/5 since the game is still in early access and the creators are working on minor bugs and overall game improvement. If you like pirates, ship combat, or sea of theives get this game.
Experienced on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers
Please note: I received a free Steam key through the Steam Curator Connect program. You can see my review & gameplay her: https://youtu.be/FV1fs0lQzRs So there have been quite a few sea faring pirate themed games for VR focused on sea battles. However, in my opinion, Crooked Waters VR is the most beautiful one, with the most potential for success. However, it has a dire problem: it needs more players. Therefore, as much as I liked this game, I can only give a neutral recommendation. The focus of the game is on the online co-op and multiplayer. Unfortunately, I can only comment on the single player experience. There are two modes that you can play in single-player: Arcade and Conquest. I tried Arcade and didn't really see the point as you are basically shooting at stationary & empty ships in the water. Conquest, on the other hand, is quite the challenge. I wasn't even able to destroy one tower during my playtime. I did manage to shoot them and cause some damage. However, they just kept firing cannons at my ship and I would take too much damage. It was difficult to both have to navigate the ship and to try to man the cannons to return fire. Despite the above, I had fun in this game. It's very fun and just peaceful to navigate your pirate ship around this beautiful world. The sea looks magnificent. Fish jump out of the water and it's just mesmerizing. You have to not only use the rudder but also set your sails correctly. You have a sword and a flintlock (which you'll need to charge correctly). There is full, free locomotion with smooth turning, along with other options in the settings. Rate 5/10. I would love to highly recommend this game, but without a playerbase, it's a risk to buy a game focused on online coop or multiplayer. Buy to support the devs and their work in this title. They have been giving this game updates since it's release in Early Access and, hopefully, that work will continue.
Just great mechanics. Love everything about, just wish I had more friends with a Rift to play it with!
I played the free weekend, at it's current state I can find a reason to play for a long period of time, but the game has great potential and I will be following it. I hope more PvE content gets more of a center focus as VR games in general just can't keep a strong multiplayer base. Also, even the small ship is incredibly hard to manage solo and quickly do everything, possibly update to make that a bit easier.
Bien marrant en multi, il manque plus que quelques joueurs en plus ! BUY IT in Key now :P
Es hat definitiv Potential, aber die Steuerung ist noch sehr hakelig, einige Funktionen klappen nur manchmal. Der Preis von 20$ ist daher leider zu hoch und solange muss ich negativ geben.
