Update (7/8/2024): Game is abandoned, last update was from June 1st where they accused an actor of stopping the filming of their show, alleging the actor was impersonating a police officer. Update (5/18/24): I have made it to Wave 6 before playing something else with a friend. Tips for people, pressing Q will open a zombie counter, found it while trying to find the journal button. Pressing "V" will put you in third person, you can then use the Alt button to freelook around your character. So, in my updated review of this game, i will mention something. This game, takes up 100% of my GPU. Sea of Thieves, Bannerlord, Modern Warfare 3, do not. I have now thoroughly explored the map. I found a radio playing Johnny Cash's rendition of Rusty Cage by Soundgarden. So i will amend my statement, this game isnt unplayable, its nearly unplayable. At the time of this edit, having the graphics set to the minimum is required as having the settings higher will make the volumetric fog reduce your vision to the point of ridiculousness. Devs, i know youre reading this, please remove the fog. Improve the optimization, (or at the very least stop using my PC as a cryptofarm ;) ) ----- This game is unplayable garbage. As someone else mentioned, Hitreg is non existent but also! the game is so poorly optimized, even on a 3060 with 32 gb ram, this game could only get 30 fps at best, on the lowest settings the devs also straight up stole the theme music for Crytek's Hunt: Showdown and claimed "Its on youtube, so its public domain" devs, that is NOT how public domain works. if you told me this game was made as a way to farm crypto from other ppl's PCs, i would believe you. Dont waste your time downloading and playing this game. i made it to Wave 2, when i gave up because there was a zombie in a plague doctor mask that was essentially immortal. Not only that, since i can jump up onto buildings and cars, that would allow me to be invulnerable. EDIT: Wow, the devs are salty about a bad review. Ya know, if you want people who havent watched or heard of your content to actually know who Feros is, you should actually tell them in game. You throw a person running at me thats ignored by zombies, im going to assume that its a special enemy. Not a friendly NPC that will give quests. Tale of Toast is a cryptofarm mmo, and that is on steam :) Also, the game being free doesnt change the fact that the music is copyrighted. You need to get permission or licensing to use it. For example: Why do you think Nintendo takes down free fan games? Because they are allowed to by copyright law. Also yes, getting to wave 2 was a slightly annoying challenge due to the game's hitreg, funny how you didnt have a witty retort for my mention of the hitreg. I will admit, ive not done much game dev, but i feel working hitboxes would be a priority. Btw, the game doesnt pause when you press pause in singleplayer.

I was initially lulled to this game by the use of Hunt: Showdown's music in the trailer. Unfortunately, the game itself isn't as good as the music it uses. Performance/Graphics: - The game is deceptively large for what it provides, at around 14 GB. - The main menus appear hastily made, and aren't pleasant to navigate. - The game's graphics are similar to those pixelated PS2-style games you may find from time to time. If you're a fan of those, you may like this. - A thick fog obscures the whole map. Turning all the graphics settings to low is almost required to see better (though your vision is still VERY limited) Gameplay: - Before playing, you choose a clan/tribe and pick a class. From what I played, there is no difference between clans. - Classes have no unique abilities (I played the collector) and likely only change what gun you have equipped. - The Steam page claims there is a story related to the clans/tribes. Again, from what I played, there's no real story in game. - There is NO mini-map, nor is there a way to even see WHAT your quests are (perhaps a tutorial would help). - Many objects have text when you get close telling you to press F to interact. Interacting in this way does nothing. - Zombies attack in "waves". Unfortunately, they do so MUCH to slowly. Instead of a shoot-em-up, this game plays more like a bounty hunt, where you track down the zombies to progress. - On wave 1, I encountered a plague doctor NPC. At the time, I did not know it was an NPC. There was ZERO indication. It just sprints at you and breathes heavily. I spent nearly 400 ammo trying to kill it, before giving up and deciding to let it kill me. It was only then that I found out he gives you a "bounty". It is not clear what exactly this bounty is. - It's difficult to tell if you're damaging zombies, save for a small score on the bottom left of your screen that increases per hit. This definitely didn't help my war against the plague doctor. - After tracking down more zombies, I found that you can sit on a tractor and wait for the zombies to come to you. The game then became a waiting game where you literally sit around and do nothing. - No tutorial, goal, or clear story to encourage progression. You just walk around some empty area trying to find zombies. Music: - There's no music lol just bird sounds. Live Action Series: - Yeah I can't find this and I have no idea what exactly we do to progress the story, seeing as there's not much to go off of in game. Overall: This game is not great. It's not even good. The gameplay is bland and searching for the last few zombies is a bore. There's almost no indication of what exactly your goal is or where you are, leaving you stranded and wandering through fog for literally anything to do. The gimmick of there being a live-action tie-in series is almost untraceable, and while playing, I had completely forgotten about it. If you have an incurable desire to waste half an hour of your time, then this game is perfect for you. If you don't like the video game equivalent of being thrown into a pool of Jell-O and told to swim, then don't waste your time with this game. Also using Rise Up Dead Man in their trailer is 100% copyright infringement.
Initial Notes: Good start, needs some tweaking to improve immersion. Environment: Invisible walls need to be removed. Day and Night cycle too quickly. Rain needs to be toned way down. Gameplay: Hit Registry needs work. Gun sounds need to be more realistic. Reload times are too short making it seem unreal. Zombies need to hunt the player, currently it feels like I am on a easter egg hunt for kills. Will continue to follow, but making these changes will improve the game for sure.
Nah......something weird goin on here. Anti virus had a little moment when I first started it.....took a moment to say it was fine....but I dunno. fps said I was only getting 23 odd, but it honestly looked like over 60. Ok......the game?...nah, nearly died from the very first zombie because it was doing some panoramic flying camera thing to me WHILE a zombie ate me...I had no control. Survived, moved on..... ....to boredom. Feros came outta no where, probably good thing he's immortal. He nearly got me killed. Trying to interact with him and I was being eaten again.....no noise. Ninja zombies. Uninstalled. Can't get info about creator.......all very odd
Warning: Asset Flip! "Critical Failure" is one of literally thousands of creatively bankrupt asset flips infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere.
This is a garbage, abandoned Unreal asset flip, a zombie wave survival shooter (yawn) where you shoot a bunch of Unreal Marketplace zombie assets and listen to music the developer stole from Crytek... yeah, unauthorized copyright infringment can carry fines of up to $250,000 and up to 5 years in prison. Anyway there was a gimmick about the developers turning this into an evolutional live "tv show" or something that went nowhere because nobody played this because it's a garbage asset flip. So, "Critical Failure" is partially or completely made up of stock assets, "borrowed" from asset stores and free asset websites. Little, if anything in this game is the creation of the "developer". While there's no up front price for this asset flip, the other problem with asset flips is that when developers aren't capable of doing their job and creating high quality assets, it's also true they can't do any of the rest of the job of a game developer either. That's definitely true for "Critical Failure", and this kind of asset flipping never results in games that have quality or value for PC gamers. You're forced to sign a highly questionable yet legally unenforceable End User License Agreement... for such a relatively low effort, low quality product, this comes across more as a delusion of grandeur than anything else. This agreement includes questionable requirements that may attempt to revoke consumer law protections that gamers expect to have, which is also highly problematic. Developers must learn they are here to serve gamers, not control them. I had my cat walk over the keyboard while the EULA was displaying, which fixed that problem for me. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. This is "free" enough (not every "free" game in the "free" section is truly free, there's usually some hidden price tag), at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good, and the cost of a game is more than just financial, your time is valuable too. In terms of public reception, this failed. There's over 130 million unique gamers visiting Steam every month. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 3 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Since free games don't contribute to your game collector badge and other profile stuff, is this a worthwhile addition to your Steam library? Definitely not. This isn't worth it. I'm paraphrasing another reviewer here, but this should be a paid product... they'd have to pay people to download it.
Developer Response!
The developer has weighed in to inform everyone they didn't read the Developer Usage Rules for Steam "partners", or they deliberately ignored the part where Valve says:
Though it may be tempting, not every review needs to be responded to. A developer response will frequently draw more attention than the original statement, potentially turning a small issue into a much larger community discussion. It's also not a good idea to use this feature to refute customer opinions. Your direct attention can be seen as validation or a defensive attempt to silence your customers.
First, take this disgusting, insulting, arrogant breach of developer guidelines in the context of the FACT that this asset flip was overwhelmingly rejected by gamers. The developer is an utter, incompetent failure and this is proven by the peak player count of only 7 very disappointed people on this asset flip. The developer takes the toxic, insulting standpoint that nobody is allowed to review or comment on games unless they are already an established game developer. This is complete and utter BS, and tells us so much about this failed developer and his toxic attitude. Apparently if someone puts a plate of rancid, rotting chicken in front of you, you're not allowed to complain unless you're a Michelin star chef. This attitude from a failed developer is clearly rubbish, it's utterly inappropriate, and is aimed solely to desperately attempt to stop people from pointing out nobody wanted his incompetently made, failed garbage of a "game". Worse, the developer has the gall to argue about "creativity" when he stole a bunch of other people's game assets, plagiarising them to mislead gamers and try to get famous for the real game developers assets he stole. Stealing the game assets and work of others and pretending it's your own is the utter worst thing anyone pretending to be creative can do, and the developer here has been caught doing it red-handed. His response, instead of removing his plagiarism from the store, is to attack reviewers with insults and profanity... the worst kind of reaction when a guilty conscience is triggered. It's clear the developer is emotionally incapable of handling the truth about his failure. Nothing in the developers pointless breach of Valve guidelines changes any of the objective facts of my review. My review stands unaltered. I cannot recommend this asset flip to anyone.
Best game ever man 100000% score.
Great game even better than COD. Lets write history!
