Crazy Cook is an Early Access paid VR game that is sort of a cute version of Fruit Ninja. It worked on my HTC Vive and Index system, looked ok, sounded ok, played ok. Had instructions in the lobby. Has 10 food to prepare, two more coming soon. Has various objects coming at you and you peel, slice, smash, or shoot spice at them, with some bad things to avoid. Cute looking game, maybe kids might like this or good for kids to play. Has 3 difficulty setting with a training and arcade mode. The background music was ok for a few rounds, but there is no Mute or Volume to remove the background music. Maybe buy this instead of Fruit Ninja. I got a free key for this from the Steam Curator program. ViVE VR curator group

Crazy cook will be compared to fruit ninja and synth rider. In this game you peel and slice (pretty much the same motions), smash (with a hammer) and salt (with a grinder that works like a Gatling gun) to prepare your food. It is more forgiving than fruit ninja and for a light bit of fun you can let yourself go. pro - visuals are fun and cartoony, music is catchy con = the recipes are all the same with the same 4 steps to do. the only difference is some are more difficult to do. = If you are a vegetarian you are not going to like it. verdict = I liked it. I am not a vegetarian. I did however make me hungry. Must go eat
As an index user : Picked it up for 0.99 EUR and requested a refund. Refund reasons: 1. The floor is about on my knees which makes the experience very dwarvish. 2. The way the blades are aligned with the index controllers I felt I needed to angle the controller a little lower than what felt natural The hammers mini game then again works well but for this experience I'll stick to Ragnarock which does it better. 3. My score did not get registered for neither Arcade nor Training? (Maybe it takes a while to appear not sure, but according to the leaderboard no one played normal difficulty pizza which makes me think it doesn't work at all) Minor gripe : There are many recipes portrayed as levels, but essentially all have the identical 4 step process with different textured ingredients. Good : The game has a good 4 mini game integration, I especially enjoyed the tenderization/hammering mini game Conclusion: Index Users: just stick to Ragnarock and beat saber, there's nothing for you but weird behavior/bugs here

This game made me burn down my grandma's house
"Crazy Cook" is an unabashed, lazy ripoff of Fruit Ninja (Copyright Halfbrick Studios, 2010). Many lazy "amateur" developers don't pay attention to their obligations under copyright law, and often steal the ideas of actual, real game developers without credit, such as the "developer" here has done. Putting aside the unethical intellectual, creative and moral bankruptcy of stealing someone else's game concept, this is also breaking that unwritten law of stealing other people's game ideas... you should at least try to do better than the game you're ripping off. "Crazy Cook" is considerably worse than Fruit Ninja. They did try to differentiate to avoid the copyright infringement suit they knew they were at risk from (it's pretty obvious they stole someone else's game here), by adding crappy rhythm elements. It's a hallmark of the absolute worst game developers when they see any given game and ruin it by hamfistedly shoving Dance Dance Revolution gameplay into it. And wow, look, that's what they did here and it was a complete and utter failure. Because that's what happens when developers think the pinnacle of gaming is Dance Dance Revolution. It is not. The developers haven't touched this for 3 years. It's deep in development hell and there's every likelihood this will never be completed. This unfinished game is just polluting Steam and making it harder for gamers to find genuinely, completely made games. On the important subject of visuals, this features fairly low quality stylised/cartoony low poly 3D graphics. It comes across as the kind of thing you see on mobile phones and Nintendo games, which will deter a lot of PC gamers, understandably. Gaming is a visual medium, and to be considered one of the best games on Steam, the graphics have to be some of the best on Steam. That's not happening here. It's VR exclusive, and that shows the developer failed to understand the most basic axiom of VR game design... if the only cool thing about your product is VR support, your product is not cool. You're forced to sign a highly questionable yet legally unenforceable End User License Agreement... for such a relatively low effort, low quality product, this comes across more as a delusion of grandeur than anything else. This agreement includes questionable requirements that may attempt to revoke consumer law protections that gamers expect to have, which is also highly problematic. Developers must learn they are here to serve gamers, not control them. I had my cat walk over the keyboard while the EULA was displaying, which fixed that problem for me. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. There's no initial download price, but the developer was charging $10 USD for this. Price barriers, especially on low quality products, can be a direct cause of failure. It seems like a nice gesture for the game to have no up-front cost anymore, but it also tells us that the game wasn't good enough to succeed as a paid product. This is also a bit of a slap in the face to anyone who showed enough questionable judgement to pay money for this... nobody got refunded. Even as a free game, this couldn't find an audience. With a peak of only 2 players, it's clear the Steam community took one look and walked away. They literally couldn't pay people to spend time playing this.
