So. Much. Potential!!!! Please don't give up on the development of this game, it already has so many good parts and I'd be overjoyed to see where it can go!! First, it's very cute (even just the strolling and jumping are top tier) and easy to play, the crabs look amazing and so does the general environement. Loving the "build and decorate tank" options even if limited fr now (loving it even more now that I've understood how the scale works lol, poor first bro got a lot of miniatures stuff). On one hand it's not that easy to figure out at times and the general mechanics are a bit blurry (no real discernible goal aside from keeping the Pinchy Friend alive - which is a cool goal but a couple of extra info boxes could work in favor of impatient players) but discovering how everything fits together slowly and getting excited for updates and unexplained sightings is a real joy. The Backyard Adventures are obviously in early stage but the squirrel aready gave me a couple of jumpscares and the fact that we're not immediately grabbed and banged on a rock or something (we do be looking like nuts in fairness) is excellent. (old man shakes fist at sky moment: so tired of the constant zombieinfectedgnarly opponents who immediately start snacking on your leg before you even have time to look at ONE cool rock Jesus Christ let me chill. Crabs is refreshing that way and I hope that first easy-discovery-level stays). Favorite part so far was the burial (I would NEVER bin my Lumpy Rugg3d Digging Friend are u out of ur mind) which is hilarious in retrospect and very well done. Being able to pay my respects to my poor Nandor (Rest in Comfy Shell my sturdy darling) has convinced me my new girl Sleepi, short for Sleepsephina because I clicked too fast, needs to LIVE. 10/10 for now, and please, for the love of Crabs, keep going!
I built Pizza Crust a house :]
Having itched my way through some life struggles this past year, it's great to finally see Crabs available on STEAM for public Early Access. It's been very cool & inspirational to observe the unburrowing of Crabs from the development stages ground-up, and feels like something's been pinching at me in anticipation for the moment I could finally adopt my very own Crab, online. Growing up, I've always enjoyed the challanges of raising and taking care of pets, fish and lizards, as well the creative fun involved in setting up a cozy cage, battling the cleaning & maintanence of an algae-ridden aquarium, and working to perfect the balance required for a turfy terrarium. Now, with Crabs available on STEAM, I can finally scratch all the same itchy surfaces of fun and excitement, without the regular difficulties, sorrow, and discomfort of dealing with pets (and crabs), offline. This year, as a sign of affection, I kindly gave the gift of Crabs to my girlfriend for Valentine's Day. Although we're unfortunately no longer together, she's apparently enjoying Crabs so much that I've heard she's already given (and re-gifted) them to most of her friends! While I do miss her and the good times we shared, it's at least more comforting to know that Crabs have dug their way into the hearts of so many. Looks like the love for these little guys is naturally spreading faster than I could have anticipated.. The game-play and features of Crabs that nips at me the most, involves the main aspects of terrarium management, decor & tank customizations, as well the overall maintanence required for the safekeeping (and controlling..) your Crabs. The added bonus of mini-games, bonus rewards, and the inflamed ever-burning sensation caused by newly revealed daily & weekly updates keeps me agonizing for more. The excitement that's caused by Crabs (on STEAM), has been exrcuciating to the point that it's developed even further a tender and aching blemish upon my heart. In truth, I really wish this version of Crabs had come out a long, loong time ago.. I'd been searching for a new improved relaxed form of raising crabs to get intertwined with, It would've most likely shaved off a lot of prickly times, and relieved an extreme amount of agony which oddly feels like it's literally digging into me. It's a physical sigh of relief to finally (mostly) be sign-free from all the symptons of raising (and dealing with) real pets (and crabs).. Though now I'm grateful to say that I can finally live my life and enjoy the best of both worlds.. I strongly recommend getting Crabs, (only on STEAM) and it's a game worth keeping a thorough lookout and inspection of. Personally I can advice the constant need of inspection as this wonderful game progresses and naturally sinks further into development. Reminder, consider consulting a Doctor when experiencing any of the following: Exceedingly High Enjoyment Levels, Dry Mouth or Extreme Sudden Thirst, Irregular or Broken Speech/Brain Patterns, or Sudden Abnormal Worries of Adult Crab Life, Double-Vision or Loss of Sight, Severe Bruising or Rashes, Sudden Molting, Sleepless Nights Spent in a Deep Waking-State of Angst, Persistent Itchiness or Scratchiness, or Apparent Claw, Lacerations, or Pinching Marks
Awesome little game, not much too do yet except watch and clean. I leave the game on to get exp and collect poop for pearls, I love hermit crabs and this is the second best thing. Can't wait to see what they add! would love to see water features, hiding in shells and them digging. crabs often get stuck circling eachother creating a poop circle.
I also got Crabs.
In the distant tides of Middle-Shell, the mighty Crabdor, a cursed crustacean, forged the One Claw to rule the ocean. With it, he sought to dominate all crab-kind. But when the free crabs of the Coral Havens united, they defeated Crabdor, and the One Claw was lost to the depths. Ages later, the Claw resurfaces in the possession of a humble sand crab, Frodo Clawgins, who learns that if Crabdor regrows his shell, he will return to reclaim his power. Guided by the wise crab Gandalf the Grey-Shelled, Frodo and his companions—the Crabship—embark on a perilous journey to the boiling pits of Mount Doom, the only place the Claw can be destroyed. Along the way, they battle the deceptive Lobsteromir, the fearsome shrimp hordes of Saurian, and the dreaded Shelob, the ancient spider crab. Frodo, burdened by the weight of the Claw, is aided by his loyal friend Samwise Crabgee, who carries him when his claws grow too weary. In the final moment, Frodo hesitates, but the treacherous Gollum, a once-respected king crab corrupted by the Claw’s power, seizes it—only to tumble into the boiling abyss, destroying the Claw and Crabdor’s reign forever. Thus, the tides of Middle-Shell are free once more, and Frodo sails away to the Eternal Reefs, where the waves are always calm.
good game bad developer I'm changing my review because this guy held a gun to my head and told me change it I've been best friends with this developer for 70 years now. We have been through ups and downs and have gone through a couple times where we haven't talked. A friend and I found out that this guy was going to develop games. We both hazed this guy for months about it. He signed to a company and couldn't tell us about what game they were a part of. Anyways a couple years down the road this guy eventually started developing their own game and eventually got this guy to tell me what game they were developing and I am the solo personal person who is a part of the bug fix team. It is very promising where this developer is taking it.
Since it's an early access game, there isn't much for now. As of now, it's pretty much a Tamagotchi :) Feed it on a daily basis and don't let it die. If you are NOT into such a game, then Crabs is NOT for you. Your crab finds pearls (around 1 100 a day) everyday (as the game keeps going while you are absent) which is the money of the game - so you can purchase food and water for it and eventually, a better spot to live, but that's it (for now?). I don't understand "yet" the reviews saying that players learnt a lot about hermit crabs... Even in the backyard adventure, I thought that I had to avoid the squirrel, thinking it would eat my crab, but no. Plenty of potential places to visit in the yard, but nothing to do with them yet.
