You're introduced to your tiny soot companion who helps you to put the pieces of a jigsaw puzzle back together. There are a total of 20 puzzles, and you can choose to play these puzzles in 35, 140, or 280 pieces. You use your controller to navigate your soot companion as he picks up pieces, rotates them as necessary, and places them in the correct spot. Once you complete a puzzle, you get an achievement as well as a gold token. Although there are plenty of Steam achievements, they won't count towards a user's global total until the game is out of "Steam is learning about this game." [h2]Review[/h2] It has been a while since I last played a jigsaw puzzle game and feeling in the mood to play a cozy, relaxing game, [i]Cozy Jigsaw Puzzles[/i] was the perfect choice. So let's look into this game while I give my thoughts. ^^ First off, there isn't really a story, but for jigsaw puzzles, I don't think that aspect matters. Instead, I'll jump straight into the gameplay. When I first started up the game, I was immediately prompted to use my controller, which surprised me. However, I suppose I shouldn't have been since the store page states that "the developers recommend playing this game with a controller". Even though I prefer to use my mouse for these kinds of games, I plugged in my controller. After adjusting the usual graphics and sound settings, then a brief tutorial was given as to how to navigate the soot companion, such as picking up pieces, rotating them, etc. I like that this tutorial is given, and it's pretty necessary, given that you have to use a controller. The gameplay felt very smooth, and I quickly got used to playing with my controller. The puzzles are easy to complete, and it certainly doesn't hurt that you can choose which number of pieces to play. Achievements are given after completing a puzzle, regardless of how many pieces you choose. It probably goes without saying that all achievements are obtainable although if you want to get all the gold tokens, you'll need to replay all the puzzles in all the possible numbers of pieces. I didn't do that this time since it wasn't necessary to obtain all the achievements, but I may go back to this game at a future date to get all the tokens. XD As for the art, it has an anime-themed style. I'm not sure if I'd consider it to be cozy, but all the art is age appropriate, and even some of the artworks have cute animals. Also, it helps that I like anime a lot, especially the more old school series. They're perfect to listen to as you're going about completing puzzles and whatnot. The music is great to listen to, especially when you wish to destress and just have some fun. If you enjoy jigsaw puzzles a lot and wish to just relax and take your time with a game and/or you like getting fairly easy Steam achievements, then it's worth checking out. At the asking price, it's a fair deal and especially, a good one if you want to complete all of the puzzles for all the possible pieces. Sadly this is anything but cozy. The controls are very uncomfortable, the navigation with the bug is very annoying and running from one place to another to pick up the puzzles makes up like 80% of the gameplay. To make things faster you have to spam SHIFT which triggers the Windows Sticky Keys popup constantly. If you could use your mouse to move your bug, like a cursor, it would be easily a positive rating. Also when you finish the puzzle, you're just stuck in the game. It doesn't bring you back to the menu or anything, you have to alt+f4 the game to pick a new puzzle. Very annoying.
