It's a single action indie game where you control two different rings connected by a stretched lightening rope, and you move them around to collect the rings on the screen. It's out now in Early Access. The campaign merely serves as a tutorial/practice set up for the game, as there is an Easy, Very Easy, and Hard set of the same levels, just moving in adjusted speeds. Once you think you get used to the campaign, you can move on to survival mode, which makes it basically an infinite runner game with really silly controls and is too difficult for me. You will need to collect the cyan and blue rings that come across the screen from the right side, and you need to use the properly colored ring that you are controlling. You cannot let them get off the screen and you cannot touch any red circles. You also have to keep the red circle from touching the rope between your two rings. You can play the game using the keyboard, with two hands on the keyboard, each to move the respective ring around, or you can play with a controller using the two joysticks. I find that the controller is much more intuitive, but you quickly have to move the rings around each other relative positioning, and it jumbles my brain a little too much, especially with the split rings that you have to keep proper forward/backwards positioning. My hand-eye coordination is just not good enough.
Graphics
Simple and bland, gets old pretty quickly. No V-sync.
Music & Sounds
Meh, it's not bad, just feels like the same tones/tunes are short and start getting loopy before long.
Audience
Hardcore rage-quitter wannabes, check out this game. Otherwise, if you truly think you can conquer this ridiculous brain-jumbling game with its strange controls and simple objective.
Pricing
$0.99 is the cheapest game you can get on Steam shy of it being F2P. So can't really complain about the price. The plan is to increase the price after Early Access.
Positives
+Works well with controller. +Difficult, if that's what you are looking for. +Level editor present.
Negatives
-Too difficult for me. -No V-Sync. -Not much variance on the single-action, the bland looks start to wear thin after a short while. -No online leaderboards for a score chaser. -Lacking a fun factor. -Too much of a rage factor.
Conclusion
Couplinked is a single-action twin-stick score-chasing runner that gets old pretty quickly and is too difficult for a casual gamer like me. I do not recommend it unless you are looking to become a professional rage-quitter.
I received the product for free. I did not receive any compensation to write this review.
Control two nodes independently and collect same colored circles. 50 levels to complete each is quite short. Later game gets really tough and will confuse you a lot. Nodes are connected by some kind of energy so stumbling upon red dots will cost you life. Simple yet challenging gameplay. Game is free so go check it out. Don't cry when your hands refuse to obey simple commands...
Couplinked gives players a brain jumbling challenge. It's a single action indie game where you control two different rings connected by lightening and you move them around to collect the rings on the screen. I personally really enjoy this game, but it is a tad bit difficult to get used to at the beginning. I prefer to play on controller as it seems more natural than on keyboard. All in all, this is a great game to play when you have a little bit of time and want to stimulate your brain.
My initial impression is that this would play ALOT better on a touchscreen. It feels a bit janky doing it with the keyboard but it's alot better with a controller. Game is hard as ♥♥♥♥ on survival. A bit of impossible game vibes there but there are also a campaign where you can get a better feels for the controls before doing survival.
Couplinked is a simple game, and for the cost of entry, the replay-ability is high. Goal is simple, you control two circles simultaneously while matching them by colour as well as avoiding obstacles. Controls at first will definitely be confusing, but with a bit of practice there is a certain satisfaction in matching nodes consistently at a real quick rate. Definitely not for the faint of heart, as it does get increasingly difficult. My experience with puzzle games come from things like Catherine and Puyo Puyo Tetris, and they can be very frustrating to those uninitiated. Couplinked might not have a overarching story, but it's simple execution and continuous updates make it the start of something special. Hell it has all the elements of a rhythm game in the long run. I play on keyboard, and that might not be for everyone, as it definitely looks like two sticks on a controller would be a easier time. If you like a challange, and something to spend 10-15 minutes on a day to prep your reaction time and get your fingers moving for other games, Couplinked is definitely something to give a go.
Best game Ive ever played. You will bust in five minutes tops. Oh no its happening again... AGHOHEHGHGGHooOOOOH😫💦💦💦💦💦💦💦💦
Couplinked, benzersiz bir kontrol sistemine sahip, affetmez, açık kaynaklı, aksiyon-arcade oyunudur. Puan için yüzük toplamaya çalışırken iki topu tehlikeli engellerin üzerinden yönlendirin. Top patlatma eğlencesi için yerel iş birliği modunda en yakın üç arkadaşınızla birlikte oynayın!
This game is a refreshing take on simple and engaging arcade style controls and game play. Just when you think you are getting the hang of things each level and tier challenges you and makes you rethink how to play the game. The music is super chill and a great track to listen to at the end of a stressful day. Six hours into the game, currently the only feedback I have is I wish they would allow changes to the colors of the nodes and the electricity.
this is proof that you do not need to over complicate a game. simple but challenging and executed to perfection.
