I'm on Linux, so the game is totally busted. The whole map and some enemies can fade entirely out of reality at times when playing. I didn't bother tinkering with it, but I still had a good time. The fighting is a touch clunky, but being able to pull weapons out of environmental objects is a very impressive technical aspect of this game. The atmosphere is great, but the story is inconclusive. It starts out pretty good, but the ending just goes nowhere and apparently you have to buy the sequel to understand what's going on when it comes to the big picture. It's still good, but I would've liked a more complete story so that the game can stand on its own. That menu theme is sick! Give it a listen if you haven't. Hopefully they bring it back and give that remaster/remake/port some Linux support.

The second best Monolith game (after F.E.A.R.). I usually hate first person melee, but I found it somewhat enjoyable in this game. Partially because of the uniquely weird hobos and drug addicts you fight. The terrific sense of atmosphere and decent story are what compelled me to keep playing. It feels like if David Fincher's Seven was made into a game (much different story, but similar sense of atmosphere). And this game is far better than the sequel (which is exclusive to consoles), so you aren't missing anything at all by skipping the second.

absolute jank
A true classic. Replaying it again in 2026.
good one, after many years not using it, I've been playing again and it's funny (and scary). It requires a bit of patching to make it work properly, though.
Mu bueno
