About
Step into the ultimate hi-tech combo machine where every board holds hidden patterns waiting to be discovered. COMBOTRONICA is a futuristic roguelike deck-builder that transforms tile-linking into an art form, based on the original concept of chain building with deceptively simple rules that create enormous variety. Get ready for that perfect "just one more run" feeling that'll keep you chasing combos until dawn.
Build chains. Trigger combos. Watch the show.
Once you've crafted your chain, hit Submit and experience The Show - a spectacular scoring sequence that brings your strategy to life. Here's where the magic happens: each tile in your chain yields Points, but to reach those astronomical scores, you need Combos for the Multipliers! Combos trigger when multiple tiles combine by color or rank, and if you manage to link every tile on the board, you'll unlock the legendary Full Board Combo.
As level goals escalate into the stratosphere, you'll need more than clever chain-building to survive. Enter Amulets - your collection of game-changing companions that transform how you play.
These aren't just simple score boosters. Amulets provide lucrative Points and Multipliers to amplify your scoring, plus valuable Coins and Energy to fuel your strategic choices, all while bending the very rules of the game. Some offer straightforward power boosts perfect for beginners, while rare Amulets unlock sophisticated strategies that'll have you rethinking everything you know about chain-building.
After conquering each level, the Shop awaits with Amulets alongside other essential tools like Tokens, Scripts, and Chips. Tokens are tactical one-shots that manipulate the board or supercharge combos. Scripts & Chips offer different paths: Chips permanently unlock new abilities, while Scripts deliver powerful one-time effects.
Every stage culminates in a Boss battle - a devious challenge that throws a wrench in your well-laid plans. "Red tiles disabled!" "No linking from the bottom row!" These tricky modifiers force you to adapt on the fly, turning comfortable strategies upside down. With 40+ unique bosses to overcome, you'll need to master every tool at your disposal.
100+ unique Amulets with game-changing effects
80+ Scripts & Chips for strategic evolution and powerful one-time boosts
70+ Tokens for tactical board manipulation
23 different Tile types to discover and master
10 distinct board manipulation techniques
40+ Boss battles with unique challenge modifiers
4 Game Paths including the advanced 4x3 board Ultra Path
4 Competitive Leagues - climb from Starter through Core and Master to reach Champion League's world leaderboard
The deeper you go, the more COMBOTRONICA reveals its true nature: a game of endless variety where no two runs play the same, and there's always a new combo waiting to be discovered.

COMBOTRONICA is a stylish roguelike score-chaser where you chain colored, numbered tiles together on a small grid, build up multipliers, and try to push your score high enough to survive a series of stages and boss fights. It sounds simple, but it actually isn’t and as you try to master the gameplay, you realize you lose track of the time completely. COMBOTRONICA has a very similar structure to Balatro. To progress to the next league, you need to beat four stages, each with four levels of increasing target scores and, last of which will always be a boss fight. Unlike in Balatro, the first two levels of each stage can't be skipped, therefore you won’t have any opportunity to rush ahead to the boss fight. Each boss slaps a specific restriction on your run, like forbidding a certain tile color or blocking a direction of connection, and the moment you think you've settled into a comfortable strategy and rhythm is exactly when the game decides to pull the rug out. The core mechanic is very simple: you have a 3×3 grid of numbered, colored tiles, and you build chains by connecting tiles with the same color, number, or that have a number already in your current chain. Stack enough pairs of numbers or sequences like 1-2-3 and combo multipliers will start ballooning your score. When you’re finished building your chain, hit Submit and enjoy the dopamine kick that the animated scoring sequence gives you. The coins you earn from beating the levels can be spent in the shop, which is always made available after you finish a level. You can buy Amulets (similar to Balatro's Jokers), passive perks, tokens that increase your combo multipliers, or special tiles that modify your deck. Amulets add specific conditions that push you to chain differently: maybe you get a big multiplier for starting and ending on the same number, or for keeping your chains short, or for staying within the top two rows of the grid. The more Amulets you stack, the more you start thinking differently about every board you see. Finding a combination that just clicks then riding it to a massive score is the kind of thing that made me want to immediately start another run after I failed the current one. As the tile setup and the shop contents are randomized for each level, the success of your run partially depends on RNG and how easily you can obtain Amulets that synergize with each other. During my first few hours of gameplay, I wondered if the game was just too dependent on luck. It's not, but it took me some time to see that. Once you've put in enough hours, you stop fighting the randomness and start working with it: approximate the scoring before you submit it, optimize it based on the possible combos, plan for next chains even if this means not connecting all possible tiles, manage the usage of the few discards you are allowed, etc. The runs still vary wildly, and yes, sometimes the RNG will frustrate you. But that's expected from a game like this. Visually COMBOTRONICA has a clean and posh UI, which suits it perfectly. The sound and visual effects that fire off during your scoring sequences are punchy and satisfying. And while the rules are easy enough to pick up in a few minutes, don't let that fool you. This is an “easy to learn, difficult to master" game in the truest sense. I've put in several hours and I still feel like I'm only scratching the surface, as I didn’t even manage to exit the first tier league. I find myself often wanting a training mode where after you submit your score, the game shows you what chains you could possibly have made to obtain more points based on your current setup - this could prove to be an excellent ground for learning various techniques for beating the game. A few things could be improved, though. The help section exists and populates as you discover new mechanics, which is good, but it leaves too many concepts unexplained. As a newcomer I found myself confused more often than I should have been. The terminology is also inconsistently used throughout, with "level" and "stage" used interchangeably, and other terms appearing without any proper introduction. Many mechanics are simply not explained at all, and the player can only “stumble” upon them randomly to discover them (such as the ability to rearrange your equipped amulets or that two adjacent tiles are not considered a “rectangle” - something that is required for a certain amulet). Hovering a tile to read its description should be instant, but the tooltip takes several seconds to appear, which is a small annoying interruption when you're mid-thought in planning your chain and preemptively calculating the score. And there's no undo as you’re constructing a chain; you can only right click, which resets your whole chain. None of that stopped me from coming back run after run. The core mechanics of the game are excellent: well-designed and addictive, the replay value is huge, and the game has that rare quality where every run feels different from the last. It's the kind of game you expect to play for twenty minutes and look up to find an hour has passed. A new developer with a new gaming idea? Even a new game dev who knows what he´s doing, answers nicely to every post of his player base and starts with a new gaming idea that´s fun to play and well executed? I don´t believe in miracles but it seem like I´ve witnessed one! COMBOTRONICA has got some unique game mechanics that are quite addictive. For less than 15€ it´s definitely well worth the price. If you´re saturated with match-3, mahjong, sudoku and solitaire games in a dozen variants, then it´s time to try out this one!
game reeks of AI but it's pretty addicting
This game is so addicting. Becareful before starting to play this game or you will not be able to stop!
I was pleasantly surprised when I heard about this game. The concept seemed very unique, so of course I had to try the demo. Very fun and addicting gameplay. Would highly recommend. Perfect to just jump into when you don't have much time to sit down and play for hours at a time.
Ein absolut unterschätztes Juwel bei den Denkspielen. Hoher Wiederspielwert. Genial einfache Regeln. Volle Empfehlung. Absolut unterschätze Indie-Perle.
