The game is unplayable it its current state. I could not turn the player, only move forward/backward, and strafe left/right using my quest 2. There is an auto grab feature that will automatically snap your hand to the guns magazine/front grip which really breaks immersion and feels very janky. I've played a lot of VR FPS games, and most of them follow the same button and weapon holster scheme, that allow you to access inventory by grabbing things from your body, not here. You can't holster your pistol at your hip, and rifle can't be holstered to your chest, or over your shoulder. There is none of that here, which is a bummer, another thing to break immersion.
I have changed my thumbs down to thumbs up. Reason being: The good! The game has extreme potential. The addition of rotation turn was a major improvement, I was able to play the game, yes it is difficult but freaking fun!!!! With the turning being enabled now you can enjoy the game. Graphically its good, sounds is great and get really nerve racking when you have enemies shooting you in multiple directions, so I for one enjoy the difficulty. So I was able to understand the controls more, I was able to go to an objective, put C4, grab the trigger then a dude popped up, I was able to grab my pistol that luckily I already had ready for pew pewing and shot his ass while running away and blew up the objective. THAT WAS EPIC. Guns are great, being certain level gives it re-playability and that old school grinding to get new weapons, The boxes take forever to open in the midst of battle but that is a easy fix, I was able to find an rpg and obliterate a objective reload and destroy a soldier NOOB TUBE FIIIREEEE stye! The voices of people can use a little help, hearing affirmative every five mins was like, what the hell are you confirming, but comical. Bad Control, wow. There is a learning curve that is steep. Getting your weapons from behind you is near impossible, so I had to do the short cut thing by pressing the menu and getting the gun, switching hands of gun is difficult and not smooth. THAT freaking BACK PACK like to appear in the worse time, I think this needs to be switch to a button or something because whoaaaaa... when you drop a weapon and that back pack appears... wow annoying. When it works it works like I able to open the pack grab c4 and health , heal myself set the bomb and get the F@#$ out of dodge, but it is still in the way. The controls need to be changed and it is really hard to explain, I think after a couple more plays I will def stream my good bad and opinion and be behind the character so I can show you why we are having issues Graphics really need optimization, I am running a 3070 and I cannot run this game above mid, and even in low there is graphically glitches. There was rubber banding issues with the characters after death. Explosion are ok, fire needs a lil help, looks kinda pixelated and smoke as well, these are issues I seen games fix after a while. The main focus now to me would be, allow faster speed with the turning, as it is a lil slow for my taste, and the controls. After that polishing will be easy but the controls are now the problem, but you guy are working on that so. With that being said, you guys seem to care about your product, and listen to the people, so thumbs up on that. I will continue playing as it is a beta and you guys are working on it pretty quick! People, do not discount the game, these guys actually respond to the us! Appreciate it so much
OG HTC Vive user here. I can't get past the tutorial....The control / gun handle is very unintuitive for HTC Wand. It's hard to c0ck my gun and rifle properly. And the gun trigger also doesn't work, the gun doesn't shoot at all when I pressed the trigger....What should I do...? Not to mention no toggle grip which means I need to hold the grip button for holding the gun (it's soo uncomfortable in 2023) I'm a veteranplayer of Onward, Contractors, Tales of Glory 2, PAVLOV, Zero Caliber, Vail VR, etc (you name it), and this is the first VR FPS game that frustrates me when it comes to gun control/handle. The Dev need to imitate those games in terms of weapon control. I hope the dev could figure out how to fix the controller for HTC Vive It's a refund for now
👑 Powered by HoI 4 Deu Curators group in German / English 👑⠀⠀⠀

Follow Main group
Follow Second group
Follow Third group
English: Combat Troops VR from the Game Pressure Studio is a tactical shooter with arcade-like elements, lots of customization options and large, open maps. Can it come close to hits like Zero Caliber or Contractors? Combat Troops currently only offers a single player mode, which mainly consists of wandering through the maps and shooting everything down. This allows you to level up and unlock more and more weapons later on. The game offers a wide range of weapons, everything you can imagine. From melee weapons such as knives, pistols and rifles to explosives. Of course, we can customize our favorite weapon with scopes, grips, etc. We can even cover our weapon with new skins. Combat Troops also provides us with a large selection of equipment that we can carry on our bodies and in our backpacks. A nice gimmick that raises hopes for multiplayer modes is the option to customize your character. We can customize the appearance, gender, etc. as we wish. Unfortunately, the interaction with weapons and equipment didn't work very well. The inventory system with the backpack, which can be used in two different ways, is also very strange and takes some getting used to. We constantly drop our weapon if we get too close to our second weapon, for example. When reloading, we sometimes dismantle our weapon and suddenly have the sight in our hand. The backpack suddenly jumps into our field of vision if we accidentally press the wrong button near the activation zone on our body. The operation of the rucksack itself is unnecessarily complicated, even if the idea of having quick-access compartments is a good one. All of this is at the expense of the playability of what is actually a good game. The missions are not difficult so far, so even beginners can have fun. Basically, we go out onto the battlefield and shoot down all the enemies, destroy certain enemy vehicles and make sure we don't get killed ourselves. So there is no story or anything like that, Combat Troops VR will probably become a pure multiplayer later on. However, the A.I. is not bad at all and sometimes acts very logically, skillfully keeping the player's back free or trying to flank the enemy. The scenarios themselves are relatively large and open to play. We can enter buildings, climb ladders and blow up barrels, tanks and other objects. The cover system also works well. Walls are walls and are not made of paper, so enemy bullets get stuck. The graphics are okay, it looks about better than the downgraded Onward. Combat Troops offers explosions, jets, helicopters and lots more. For replayability there is a ranking system and of course the unlocking of the various objects. There were nine maps for my test, about half of which are night variants. The game is available in four difficulty levels. There is a tutorial that you can repeat in the headquarters and there is also a shooting range and an area where we can practice with explosives. The game is still in the early access phase and you can tell, it could do with a bit of fine-tuning here and there and especially better weapon handling. There are definitely better shooters at the moment, but Combat Troops could be a good one. I give it an informative rating in the short review and a thumbs down here. Mainly because of the weapon handling.
The devs need more time to cook this game. The VR mechanics are all janky from grabbing to inventory. two hand placement on weapons was impossible. even dropping things is much too complicated to be immersive. I believe the devs would benefit from copying the mechanics of something like contractors or pavlov. had to refund but I will check back in a month or so
Combat Troops is one I've owned for a while now, but only very recently came back to. It's not perfect by any means, but honestly? It's hard to complain with the price tag. Also the fact that it's still in early access has me hopeful for it's eventual full release. I'll start with some things I don't like. The laser pointer UI is really not great. I don't mind it for changing settings in menus, but during gameplay it feels unnatural to point a beam of light to pick things up. In other VR games force grabbing feels way more natural, and I think this is the area that needs the most refinement. Another small gripe is the settings menu. I didn't realize that in order to turn on haptics you had to go to the main headquarters and use the wall menu there. I'd rather a universal menu that allows me to access all settings at all times, even during the initial tutorial. Also I feel like controller haptics should be enabled by default, but maybe there's reasoning behind it not being? Either way you can turn on haptic feedback. Just need to use the correct settings menu. That said the settings menu leads me to one of the major Positives about this game. There are a lot of tweaks that the user can do, but my favorite by far is the ability to enable and crank up perceived item weight. I wish every VR game had options for this as I'm someone who loves simulated weapon weight/inertia, but I know many who hate it. Allowing the player to disable/enable and change the strength of it is phenomenal and the dev deserves a round of applause for it! Inventory is done in a really novel albeit a bit strange way. You can carry two primary on left and right shoulder slots, and two small secondary in front (also some vest equipment slots), but then the backpack is just a logo that floats in front of you to the left. I think I'd prefer if the backpack was tied to a shoulder instead at the sacrifice of a second primary slot. If for no other reason than to de-clutter player view. The bag itself is fun to use though. You stick your hand in the top and turn the controller to select which item you want to pull out via a radial menu. I will say I'd like if it had defined clicks into place when hovered over an item. Just to prevent over scrolling to the wrong item. Still a really cool way of doing storage! Combat (hey it's in the name of the game!) in Combat Troops is what I'd call more arcade fun. Zero Caliber/Crossfire Sierra Squad are probably the two most similar VR games to it on the market. It's not gonna revolutionize the VR shooter genre, but it's fun, weapons are punchy, and reloading is satisfying. Though there is a weird quirk where you can stick a rifle mag into the grip of the gun rather than the actual mag well. Think it may be confusing the two handed weapons grips for pistol grips. I do get a bit of a chuckle every time I do it on accident so it's more of a funny bug. Not game breaking. I'm gonna lump sound design and visuals in together because I want to keep it 100% with y'all. This game feels like the definition of asset flip. Like I think they've got a decently solid foundation in terms of game feel, but at times visually and audio wise it's chaotic. Voice lines feel like a random amalgamation. Explosions will make you think your headphones are about to blow up. I appreciate that it does feel like a loud battle, but it's just not cohesive. Same for the visuals. It's a mishmash of random camo, armor, vehicles, etc. On occasion everything comes together to look kinda decent, but this is definitely a game you play for the gameplay. I'd describe the overall mood as... if there was a G.I. Joe VR game made in the 90's. Which if that's what the devs were going for they nailed it. I've yet to see everything the game has to offer, so I'm not sure what the full scope of it really is. So far I've been going in, blowing things up, shooting the bad guys, and having fun. For around 10 bucks I think it's worth giving a shot. It's the type of game where I'm like "I really wish they had a bigger budget" because they honestly are doing a lot of cool things with the game that much more expensive VR titles don't even bother with. Combat Troops is far too ambitious for it's own good. I'd love to see it get a nice polish pass before it finishes development, but I'm not disappointed with it! Hope the devs stay in the VR space and continue to improve their craft. There's clearly a lot of passion going into this even if it is quite rough around the edges. I hope more people decide to give it a chance and provide their feedback to the devs! This could become a VR hidden gem, but only time will tell.
i really like this game, very good graphic and design., Was worth the money and i would strongly recommended !
English: I think the game is undervoted, i like it. The backpack system is weird, but manageable. It take more time to check and master the game, there are a lot of options and weapons.
Good games continue like that, very nice improvement in the comfort of games!!!
