Maybe had a good idea under the poor execution, but not worth playing.
This game is very short, but worth the time time. It has a strange way of storytelling, but it is very entertaining. I would love to see future development!
This is a new free 2D space game that has a short story, 3 achievements and will test your reaction speed. Other than that is not much to say about this game, except that is a little bit weird when it changes locations and it's kinda stiff on keyboard and mouse.
It’s decent. The vibe is cool and it’s pretty creative. It’s very short and it took me exactly 34 mins to beat it. I would love to see some more story introduced. Some parts were a little bit confusing like the part where you go in a circle and black stuff comes flying at you and you have to stop it with your light. I played this on a steam deck and it played beautifully, there were no bugs and I think it could get verified on the steam deck which could help in sales. Overall I recommend trying this game if your trying to find another game to play and it’s freee!
"Colony Cephea" is a weird tech demo of a game, it's basically a ripoff of SpaceWar! (the primitive video game from 1962), but with a (bad) plot... you're exploring some other galaxy or whatever. What do you do in the game? Apart from just flying around in a basic SpaceWar!/Asteroids ripoff, you plod through the "horror" narrative with lighting/darkness mechanisms as a crux of the game. But the true horror is that someone thought this would be okay to launch on Steam in such a poor state. The game features really lacklustre 2D visuals (does the developer not know 3D graphics became mainstream in the mid-1990s?). Gamers don't spend thousands of dollars on gaming rigs to pretend they're mobile phones. Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 2 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Not this time. This isn't worth downloading. While this won't cost you any money, you get what you pay for, and sometimes, even when the game is free, it's still not enough.
It's cool to see a horror game set in space like this. Really putting a rarely seen emphasis on the cosmic part of cosmic horror. Taking the usual mechanic of shining a flashlight and applying it here was well done, too. The lore you collect while playing gives more depth to the game. It wasn't clear at first what was going on; the teleportation and screen changes were disorienting, but after a few screens, you figure it out.
I think the use of light and dark was meant to be suspenseful. It was irritating.
